In one game we had a assault on a planet and I had the following units in the battle.

Specific unit in line of battle 7th Cavalry Regiment "Garry Owen"

Drop troops that established the beachhead with the 7th were The 13th Marine Expiditionary Unit.

Specific infantry unit in line of battle 3rd Infantry Division "The Old Guard"

Specific Navy Fleet in line of battle 7th Fleet "Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club"

Drop/Jump Troops

David Weber has a book that shows a really good Drop Troop group, they are called Imperial Cadre. The book is called "In Fury Born".

They are heavily enhanced, though... neural net enhancements, computer implants, lots of skeletal/muscular tinkering with adjusted DNA, implanted pharmaceutical-chemical enhancement regimes, etc.

Far, far more than any Traveller rule-set ever says (or even implies) that any 3I drop troops receive.
