A lot of news out of Freedonia today, so let us start with the most important news first: Veedback has officially hit multi-Iridium with its latest album: A Nightmare That Keeps on Giving. We have been told that the recording association is going to have to come up with a new scale at the rate that Veedback is winning these accolades. Also they have once more come up on top of the LRI scale (Lost Roadie Index), losing 15 roadies this tour to fans determined to get to the band. Power and Progressive Metal fans have not been disappointed.
Several of their songs have also gone Platinum on this album. The 22 minute long "Excursions into Your Nightmare", "Death came for me, and I kicked him in the Tenders", "Meet Professor Rigor and Doctor Mortis", and finally "An Asteroid Hit my Cat" all made platinum on the charts. They also led in the MPT scale: Most Panties Tossed, especially with An Asteroid Hit my Cat. They had to put up a barrier after an over-enthusiastic fan tossed a pair with an impressive skidmark on it which hit Herman Zero the bass player right in the face which caused him to hurl off the stage. The male fan who tossed them was aiming for Deliah d'Aubrey and missed.

Chateau Chambord has released this years wines and so far the wine critics have been impressed with the Blanc et Blancs Chardonnay which has an impressive oak finish, with hints of butter, and lemongrass. Also showing well is their Pinot noir de rivière Granite (Granite River Pinot Noir) which shows great promise, and while it is drinkable as is, we recommend a lay down of at least a decade to bring out the hints of mature fruits, and caramel.

19 People were arrested in raids across Sutekh by the Commando unit of Sutekh Security. The people arrested are reportedly involved in the attack on the capital and the placement of the nuclear device. A Security spokesman told us that warrants were issued by the Special Security Tribunal, and with those in hand the raids commenced.
Eleven people were taken in a raid on a farmstead in a very sparsely settled area. The farm was reportedly owned by a person with ties to the Gilfig Temple, and organized crime. Commandos swept down on the farm in the early hours of the morning, and after disabling the security systems, the battle dress equipped forces stormed the house.
The commandos were met with resistance, which was rapidly overcome and all the occupants were taken into custody. Two required medical treatment due to injuries sustained while attempting to use martial arts and a cutlass on the battledress equipped troops. A cache of explosives, and two nuclear pits were found on scene, along with gauss rifles, ram grenades, and other weapons.
In the other raids, no casualties occurred, and all the suspects were quickly arrested and taken to the Cheval City Central Jail. They are being held under the Sutekh Security Law, and they are being questioned rigorously by Police and Security investigators. We are being told that there will be further arrests as the subjects confess to their crimes.

The Foreign Ministry announced that the Deputy Military Attache, and Deputy Commerce Attache from the Xin Zhongguo Embassy have been declared Persona Non Grata, and have been given the standard 48 hours to be off planet after they were both arrested attempting to bribe a contractor for Fusigon for plans for the new TL 12 fusion reactors for the Xanadu Navy's latest capital ships. Also Xanadu Intelligence Service reports that they have arrested five members of the Military High Command for espionage.
We are being told that three of the members arrested are middle ranking members of the military but are in a position of importance. They were caught delivering classified material to a person who has been arrested and upon confession was a member of the Gateway Federation Secret Intelligence Service who had been posing as a commercial factor for Gateway Corporation.

The Gateway News Service wants to report that right now the Technology Assessment Group, will be formally upgrading the following worlds into the Tech Level 12 "club": Friedland and New Joseon. Xin Zhongguo just missed the requirements to be formally upgraded to TL 12, and the TAG expects it will take 3-4 more years of work for them to meet all the criteria to be upgraded.
In a shock move, the TAG almost downgraded Marduk to TL 9, and did downgrade Sulawesi to TL 9 based on their scoring criteria. But due to the circumstances on Marduk due to the war and destruction caused by the war, they have agreed to hold off on the downgrade for at least a year. Sulawesi, the panel agreed should be formally downgraded to TL 9, but the presence of the Imperial Chinese Empire colony might cause them to be re-assessed next year, but right now it is essentially a dysfunctional world due to the extensive balkanization it does not look good for Sulawesi.
Nidhogg just missed being downgraded from TL A to TL 9 due to local industries working at the TL A level, but Nidhogg will be closely watched as well by the TAG. Sutekh is on track to hit TL C (12) within the next four or five years based on the very aggressive build up under the Cheval family. Observers are hopeful that the process will continue. Dustball is another world which narrowly escaped from a tech downgrade score, but based on the policies of the Grand Poobah, it seems they will maintain their Tech Level A score, with a great deal of work going into the tech level to keep it steady.

Our sources withing the group tell us that there is a good possibility that Gateway and Amaterasu might be given the TL D grade in four or five years based on the current technological progress shown. But as one of the criteria, no world shall get the TL D (14) status unless and until they have functioning Jump 4 technology.
The Technology Assessment Group is a non partisan, non governmental group run by a committee of Industry representatives, scientists, journalists, and others which every four or five years issues their report on the technological basis for the sector, and this assessment is used by the Traveller's Aid Society to update the UPP for each world.
New Paris is protesting their lack of movement from TL A to TL B, claiming that this is purely a political move to offend the citizens of their planet. They are demanding a re-assessment based on their achievements. Cette note est une insulte aux habitants du Nouveau Paris! (This rating is an insult to the people of New Paris!) But the TAB is standing firm in the TL A rating of New Paris.

In retaliation for the expelling of their diplomats, the Gateway Federation Foreign Ministry has expelled two diplomats each from the Freedonian, and Xanadu embassies. They have also recalled their ambassadors for "consultations" to "reassess the diplomatic standing on those worlds, and to prepare formal protests over the treatment of their diplomats!"
The Foreign Ministry has categorically denied that any of their accredited diplomats are involved in any espionage activities, and they will protest most strenuously any attempts to claim that they were involved in illegal espionage activities. The Prime Minister declares that he is "shocked! Shocked I tell you to find that anyone could accuse his diplomats of anything of the sort!"

The Belters Association has declared a General Strike, which is supported by the Ore Processors Guild, Dockers Guild, and independents. They have agreed to allow workers to keep the air processors, and other critical infrastructure working. Ms. Wang of Galaxy Metals has called in Corporate Security, and clashes have turned violent, with over a dozen injured so far in clashes between the two groups.
Increasing pressure is being placed on Governor Huang to back Galaxy Metals since they have been his patron as he climbed the ladder in the Imperial Bureaucracy, but Imperial attention and potential Imperial disfavor has kept him from deploying troops to break the strike. Ms. Wang is openly calling for dead strikers to "keep the rest of the rabble in their place. Don't they know they owe the company everything, and so the ungrateful scum will learn the price of disobedience!"
The Military Commander in system Rear Admiral Lau Chen-Tong has said that Imperial Military forces are not going to be involved in putting down the strike in accord to Imperial Directives. Galaxy Metals has issued a statement that: "His Imperial Majesty, Yongle II is under the influence of misguided people, and he needs to remember what happened to his grandfather when he went against the will of heaven, and offended the corporations!"

Police Commander Esteban Garcia tells us that they suspect that 3/4 of the product were destined for other worlds in the sector since 25 kilos is an unreal amount of Green to be sold in any one place. Normally Nidhogg Green is sold in self administering nasal injectors which contain a regular "dose" of the drug.
The arrested parties came from Britomart on the Free Trader "Purple Haze" which is registered out of Gateway. The ship has been impounded by Nuevo Sol authorities, and the crew has been placed in pre-trial confinement. The local penalty for such smuggling is either death, or life without any possibility of parole. The drugs are being held for destruction at the local Main Police station. The estimated value of this seizure is close to half a billion stellars on the interstellar market. We are told that they think that the drugs were headed to Hades Station for re-shipment across the sector.

McDuff has steadfastly maintained that he has done nothing wrong since "It was just a wee bit of money involved". As a result of his actions, the sector favorite New Canberra Wombats were forced to sit out last season due to the scandal.
Mr. McDuff has said that he is going to start life afresh, and is looking at opening a Cricket School to teach new players the best methods to play Cricket. Galaxy Metals Security has engaged in a brutal clash with striking workers today, with eighteen workers being sent to hospital with various injuries caused by the security forces breaking through a picket line. The Security forces used stun rods, and metal batons to pummel the strikers, and were seen kicking fallen workers when they were on the ground.
Ms. Wang is said to have ordered a "brutal" response to the strikers, stating: "Those lazy no goods need to get back to work, and if they do not want to work, then they can go out the airlock or starve. We only employ productive workers who obey the company!" Station police stood by since they were outnumbered by company security forces, but did wade in and extract the injured as quickly as possible.
Company security was later seen toting laser carbines in the production facilities as well as shotguns in order to ensure that the "criminal workers" do not disrupt production. The Belt Miners Association has sent off an urgent request to homeworld asking for help and assistance.
