I.ve recently started collecting Classic reprints and i just have to say... WOW

A game with almost infinite possibilities and a real chance to experience real Sci-fi at its best.

I dont know if you know any of his work, Joe Halderman is one of my favourite Sci-fi writers.
If you get a chance try his The Forever War

its a class A novel.

From your post, is it safe to assume that this is your first encounter with Traveller? If so, then best of luck! It ain't smeggin easy to find other players - especially ones whose idea of SciFi has nothing to do with any movie or TV series with the word "Star" in it's title.

My first SF book was Lester Del Ray's "Rocket to Limbo". I read it in the third grade, and have been hooked ever since.

And yes, I read The Forever War when it was serialized in Analog back in the 70s.

If you run a combat heavy game the basic rules are not very elegant. I might suggest you get a copy of Striker and substitute the appropriate rules.
