Didn't he do a lot of work for the Battletech games?

Yes. His space hilander is a personal favorite... the original was sold at an auction at UAA's Gaming Culb's convention... and I had to bow out due to lack of funds...

I thought so. I can’t put my hand on it right now but I’ve got an old BT book with uniforms of the different militaries that he did. I’ll see if I can dig it up...

I want art that pertains to the chapter of a book. Not generic clip-art place holders. But ya, more art. Not just the one or two pictures that Book 1 might have. And not the generic art like GURPS Traveller and some of the Mongoose books used. Mongoose's Zhodani book was very generic art-wise.

I am with Shawn on this. I like direct, labelled artwork that relates to the content directly whenever possible.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

LBB's not enough, TTB about right, MT also about right, same for TNE, GT and MgT can at times miss use their art placement but usually get it right.

More art

I would love to see more Traveller artwork. I agree that it should not be generic, but rather should be applicable to the particular subject. And it should have a unified look - Imperial equipment and weapons should have a particular style different from Zhodani, different from Solomani, etc.

Custom artwork costs a fair amount. Asking for custom artwork for each individual group in Traveller multiples the cost by each group. There is a limit to how much any company can pay for artwork, and still have a product that they can sell.

Generally, once a company buys the artwork, they have a definite period of time for which the artwork can be used, unless they have a permanent license for it. Either way, companies are going to re-use as much artwork as possible to save costs.

What would you like to have? A lot of custom artwork and a product that costs an arm and leg, or limited and/or generic artwork and a product that you can actually buy?

Greedy bastage that I am, I want it all  but I could see there being perhaps smaller or less detailed art in the rule books, and perhaps self sufficient "art" books. But in the Imperium, massive as it is, just because something is built to a certain code of standards does not mean the finished product is going to look the same...

If I had what I want all the art would be done by Ian Stead and certain others in high glossy detail! Work slave!:rofl::rofl: >Runs and ducks for cover<

P.S. I miss Bryan Gibson :(

I am in the process of putting together two, to start, copyright-free image books for use with Traveller and any other role-playing game. If you check under Timerover Press in the news feed, there is a link to a booklet of free samples. The artwork will be for the use of whoever needs or wants it.

Yes, themed art that is well captioned and credits the artists.

There is a lot of art out there that doesn't credit the artist/s.

Please.

I always thought there should be more art in Traveller, but as everything IMTU looks like Buck Rogers in the 25th Century anyway, I can just direct players to that.
