Probably MoT is our best bet.

On proselytizing...Well, Classic Traveller did help me learn algebra...

Who knows what real world skills Riki-Tiki-Traveller will help players learn. Actually, that might not be a bad Third Party product - a supplement that shows how to use Riki-Tiki-Traveller as a teaching tool for math and science.

Now all that's needed is to wait for the SRD, OGL, and TLL.
 
Don't know about RQ, but Conan is very well presented and Judge Dredd looks pretty authentic too.

I've got the Judge Dredd line and am very happy with all the books.

If, however, MongTrav is going to be the engine for other sf games, then the core rules will have to include stuff about AI, transhumanism, warp engines, time travel etc etc. Maybe Starship Troopers doesn't have all that stuff, but Johnny Alpha certainly does!

If this is the case then Traveller could finally become the general SF toolkit it has always claimed to be.
 
While RTT has the advantage of being somewhat more polite, and translatable in mixed company, I find JAFTV is more in line with my current thoughts on it... :D

Yup, I'm in the JAFTV school too. Hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised, but T20 and CT give me everything I need to run or play an adventure.

I've started using the RTT acronym on another website or two and it seems to be taking off. I'm putting my full support behind this one.

Since T5 from what I gather is going to use dice pools, will RTT use dice pools? I have a strong dislike of dicepools and would really like to see a return to the 2d6 days.

The best place to voice this opinion would be over at the Mongoose forums, since that's where they probably hang out.

Marc and Matthew are currently discussing the 2D Roll-High rules that Marc had drafted for T5 last year (at Hunter's suggestion).

While I prefer 2D6 roll-high (Its hard to shout "Hooray, I got snake eyes!"), it would seem a formidable challenge to create a '2D6 Roll-High' and a 'Fistful of dice Roll-low' rules system that can be easily swapped going from the basic (RTT) Traveller to the advanced (T5) Traveller systems.
