Mounts: Horses, pseudosaurs?

On the planet Tortuga there are several dinosaurian beasts domesticated by the scout who originally controlled the planet. The Klois, small (3 meters long) beaked quadreped similar to the earthly protoceratops, used as a riding beast or pack animal. The Rkhinaklois, the larger horned plains cousin of the Klois used much as the earthly elephant. The third is the mountain Aflhaz, a fast 200-400 KG predator trained as a riding beast but vary tricky to manage. The first two have groups descended from the originally scout stock that are still amenable to
humans. The Aflhaz have reverted to their normal
predator state and would a whole new captured & training program.

Well if you ar ea rendo member I did a few renders of soem possibilites. The first is a modified version of a titanothere. And the second is a hadrosaur which I think woudl work as a mount. http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=1152916
Anyways really look into anchent animals there is such a variety and really they only scratch the surface. Antoehr thing is birds large flightless kind. Ostriches are possible and have been used and are quite quick ther eis a prehistoric version which is a carnovore and 9 feet tall with a huge axelike beak brutal.

If you're using T20 some of the monsters in the D&D MM might be cool..like the dire wolf or giant owl...

Madarin Dude, I think that carnivoraus ostrich was posted somewhere in the Bestiary last year by yours truly. It didn't look a really comfy ride, but I'd rather be riding it, than chased by it......

Edit:
Here it is!

Hey who say's the mount needs to be a living creature how about a cool robot horse or something. I watched a cartoon when I was a lot younger called Galaxy Rangers they rode robotic horses. When you look at how power systems work in like the against gravity source book. A robotic horse could have power away from a ship or whatever for a month or two. Then no food, no mess, use a stateroom for a stable placing the recharge unit there. Build it up to look kind of like an old style stable only very modern in use.

Already brought up in this thread on page 1: Posts # 6,8,9.

I still can't get the image of a permed pigmy wooly mammoth with enourmous eyes, ribbons in its hair and a petite little saddle. Too cute for its own good.

My Little Rainbow Mammoth

This may sound a little basic, how about "just" a horse? A pure-bred horse with no genetic modifications from a long-line of champion Solomani thuruogh breds. Such gentically pure animals might be rare. In the far-future when genetic modification of animals to proivde various desired traits is common, the rarity is the orignal, the un-modified.

Elizabeth Moon's Heris Serrano series (esp the first 3 books) has a similar concept as a major plot element.
