Rent a Starport Concession!

Spacesuit in a jar!? Really cool idea! Of course, I can also see it developing alternative uses - that are less noble, shall we say.

(And, btw, contact with air? It would need to be something else, I think. Otherwise you would have to put it on in vacuum.... :) )

:smirk:

This || close to a keyboard kill

14. RoboCleaner 70-57: Will at every opportunity (anyone in the room) mutter and natter on about how it was a toaster in a previous silicon life and that it can still make toast, all kinds of toast, and not just toast but any heated bread product, would you like some...

...how about now?

Unfortunately RoboCleaner 70-57 had to be scrapped, by the franchise in question, as it kept having accidents with 8kg hammers.... (Mind you, until then, it was the most profitible unit as the users kept voiding their Cr1000 damage deposits....). :lol

Only if its development were instantaneous.

Sounds like a recipe for some very messy jet propulsion.
That goop is gonna have some problems with orifices. I suppose you could lay down some duct tape first, but... :D

Well, at least that won't make any difference to the fun of getting the stuff off. Spacefarers epilate.

Imperial Credits -> local currency

Hortalez et Cie, LIC Automated Credit Conversion Machine

An ATM machine for converting Imperial Credits from the standard card to local currency.

In most A, B, and C starports you can find several of these scattered about. They are TL 15, highly encrypted and heavily armored machines approximately 1 meter square and 2 meters high. The Hortalez at Cie logo is prominently displayed, and the touch screen interface has access to all major languages. There is a 1% transaction fee, minimum of Cr10, for converting Imperial credit to the local cash equivalent.

The machines are maintained by trained Hortalez et Cie employees, and there is usually a small office in the starport that also acts as a bank. The machines are also under constant surveillance, both via an internal video system, as well as external video systems. Both systems constantly stream data to an off-site data warehouse as well. On lower tech worlds, there's a small warehouse adjacent to the office for spare parts, usually enough to last at least a year for minor corrections. More parts may be available depending on the distance from high-tech worlds.

There are the occasional cash converter systems that are a clear imitation, such as the Hortez et Fils, which has a very similar logo and design. Hortalez et Cie, LIC, have been in constant litigation with this company since 1097. These imitation systems appear at class C & D starports, and are...inconsistent...in their transaction fees.

Some potential plots: characters need to transport spare parts. Variations on this include:
straight deal: deliver the parts, get paid.
purloining parts: a rival company wants to (a) borrow the parts to reverse engineer for their own machines or (b) modify for their own nefarious purposes or (c) simply destroy to prevent Hortalez et Cie from maintaining a monopoly.
