Oh come on! I’m going to miss my transport.
The doors open and we see the captain smiling at JON. She enters the elevator and presses a floor. There is an awkward moment of silence as the CAPTAIN stares at JON and the initiates the conversation.

CAPTAIN:
So do you like what you do?
JON:
I’m sorry?
CAPTAIN:
Working for the corporation?
JON:
You’re a bit forward aren’t you?
CAPTAIN:
Just trying to make conversation…
JON:
I’m sorry it’s been a rough start to a busy morning, but
to answer your question no. My career has lost its shine.
CAPTAIN:
Don’t you ever want more for yourself?
JON:
Doesn’t everyone?

The elevator slows.

CAPTAIN:
Well this is me. It was nice meeting you…uh?
(Extending hand)
JON:
(shaking the CAPTAIN’s hand) JON, JON SPINWARD.

JON is drugged by the handshake and starts to rub his eyes and appears to be drunk.

JON:
What are you doing to me?
CAPTAIN:
I’m giving you want you want.....More.

You should consider filming just that little bit and adding it to the mix of samples. It makes the captain more likable as a character and sets the stage a little better for that sickbay scene. Without it, the captain just looks like a kidnapper backed by a thug.

It's enough to make me rethink. I'm a little short at the moment, but I'll definitely have to put you guys in my budget when I have some spare cash to spend.

He still looks like a kidnapper backed by a thug. Lots of people grouse about their job and fantasize about something better without actually meaning "Please abduct me and take me away from everything I know, including friends and loved ones that I may have for all you know."

You'd be better off having the captain extract Jon from some predicament and to extract a promise of two years' work or something like that in return. I know, I know, it's been done before. But it works. Bail him out of an awful planetary jail where he's facing a long prison sentence for offending some local sentiments.

As for the horribly phony surname, give Jon some reason to keep his name secret. "You can call me Jon Spinward." "Because that's not your name?"¹ That's gives you a hook for later developments.

Print of a Single figure - roughly 8.5 x 11, black and white image done as likeness of the backer in line style of "guy in Hawaiian shirt (see attached for approximate style and pose). I would work from one or more (preferably more) photographs of the backer to create a likeness of face, age, gender and physical build. More shots with a facial expression preferred by backer = better chance of a good character portrait.

Single 9x11"page portrait figure signed by artist as a Mono Print on museum quality paper, shipped to Backer from the artist. Backers fee includes creation of art, cost+markup of print, and shipping and handling by flat rate Priority mail from Seattle to destination inside the USA. Print is neither matted nor framed.

If desired: Spot color - single digital color of artist's choice added as tints or solid +$100 per print Full color - +$300 ... added in a loose watercolor style.

Transfer of rights - Purchasing this package does not include print rights. Artist retains copyright and all other rights. Backer signs a model release form allowing use of his or her image in the art and assigning artist the right to use that image with uses not related directly to Spinward Traveller.

Dear Mr Whitman,
Is there any chance of extending the time frame window? From checking out the figures, it looks like it's only just starting to gain momentum. It's highly possible that more funding will be possible with a larger time frame and let's face it, most gamers don't have bucket loads of cash up front.

However with extended time, they can raise the required cash to put more into it and get what they want merchandise wise into the bargain. This ultimately = more money for the production.

Just a suggestion and a strong case in point would be the highly successful Eliteangerous computer game Kickstarter.

Personally I like the idea of that 96min pilot movie, only possible with just under 4 times what the current figure is.

Kickstarter times are locked in stone. However, we can make some materials available on line after it is over. So we can still generate additional money to add on EXTRA time to the show.

The best thing anyone can do righty now, is find forums and other places to post the information. Awareness is the key as there is always one person who says... I did not know!
