T5 0.9 Errata Thread

pg 531 and 532

Pg 531 left column starts the introduction of the first stage of psionics.

Pg 531 right column, showing an example of a stage one ability, uses psionic statistics that have not yet been described or allocated.

Pg 532 left column discusses those basic ability allocations.

The RIGHT column of page 531 and the LEFT column of page 532 look like they need to be switched.

pg 386

Page 386 is targeting and scale info for space combat.

Page 387 is the header for how space combat works.

It appears these pages should be switched.

pages 316, 387, 390

Page 316 under elements of the shipsheet , under the heading The Combat Process, states

When an attack reaches a Hit Location, the specific SubCompartment table (with the same Hit Location Number) is consulted with 1D for a result 1 to 6. That Sub Entry or Line Number is Destroyed

On pages 387 and 390, under the DAMAGE header, state

Successful Attack and Penetration damages (at least temporarily) one Subcompartment within a Compartment. Roll 1D to determine which is affected; mark that Subcompartment as Damaged.

Also,

Table 1A on page 316 states that repairs, under immediate action, can be done to change status from destroyed to damaged.

The DAMAGE section on 387 and 390 states that immediate action may eliminate the damage.

Access p.307

The listed deck squares for the cargo airlocks are incorrect.

Cargo Airlock listed at 2 squares for 2 tons, should be 4 squares
Large Cargo Airlock listed at 10 squares for 9tons, should be 18 squares

Door Width

Large Cargo Airlock listed at 4.5m which assumes a box of 3 deck squares (along the hull) by 6 deck squares deep.

From an engineering point of view there is no reason you couldn't make it 2 squares wide by 9 deep, or 6 squares wide by 3 deep

Door Height

The door heights for all three airlock types are 2.5m. However the standard cargo container listed on p. 675 is 3m wide by 4.5m deep by 3m high.... higher than the door.

Suugested fix: do these characteristics need to be defined? Wouldn't it be simpler for the designer to lay out the exact arrangement on the deckplan?

Page 410 - Issues with Water (Wa)

Water world (Wa) and Ocean (Oc) world will both Generate on size A worlds. The difference between the two is the amount of land mass above water, with no way to determine precedence under current worldgen.

Water world (Wa) and Fluid (Fl) can both generate on Atm ABC worlds with Hyd A. Since fluid oceans are not water, by the definition on page 490, it seems these should be mutually exclusive.

Also, you could have a Fluid Water Ocean world - all three codes will generate on a world with Siz 3456789A, Atm ABC, and Hyd A.

Removing Size A from Water (Wa) would resolve the Water/Ocean issue.

Removing Atm ABC from Water could potentially resolve the Wa/FL issue, essentially giving Fluid oceans precedence over water on with those Atm types, which seems to make logical sense.

Another option is precedence - Fluid and Ocean over Water for example, which amounts to the same thing.

Page 408 - Homestar

Table 2a is to roll Homestar. Nothing found to relate this to world generation.

How does it tie to stellar generation on page 412?

The only other references to Homestar I found are related to Sophonts.

Page 408 - Table 2c for Satellites

Table 2c is used for satellite generation.

A flux roll is used to see if a satellite MW orbits a gas giant (GG) or not. If the roll indicates it orbits GG, and no GG is present in the system, do we add one?

Also, the Close column has an * but no associated remark.

There is a "Close =" reference in the remarks, but it has no other information - it appears some text is missing.

Remarks for the table show DM+2 if MW is a planet, and DM-2 if MW is a GG. What do these DMs apply to?

Page 411 - Economic Extension tables

In the Infrastructure DMs there is a DM for Ba,Di,Lo of zero (0)

Immediately below, there is a DM for Lo of one (1)

Which DM applies to Lo?

Should the DM of one (1) be a different remark code??

Page 412 - Allegiance and Bases tables

The allegiance table on this page uses 2-character abbreviations.

Should these be updated to the new 4-character versions, or are these considered baselines?

In the Bases table header, the "D C B A" portion should specify these are starport codes.

34: Title "C3 Waking Hours"

On page 34, 4th columns, bottom section (between horizontal lines):

To be consistent with the other sections on this page, I think the "C3 " needs to be removed from the title of this section.

35: Title "C6 Support"

On page 35, 4th column, bottom section between horizontal lines:

To be consistent with the other columns, I think "C6 " should be removed from this title. Likewise with the title "C6 Nobility".

72: Table suggestion

On page 72, left side, bottom, there's a table of background tables. It refers to the tables on the next 5 pages.

I recommend replacing the numbers on the left of the table of background tables (p 72) with the page numbers of the next 5 pages.

Then, put the appropriate title that's on page 72 at the top of each page.

I think this would make it both easier to understand and (slightly) more useful.

Page 408 Table 2b

The notes in Table 2b state

Place Mainworld in Habitable Zone Orbit Number plus or minus HZ Var From Table B, Chart G.

Seems like the bolded portion should actually be referencing Table 2b iteself, since the HZ var is from that same table.

Maybe also refer to the HZ table, located on pages 400 and 413.

Example:

Place Mainworld in Habitable Zone Orbit Number (HZ table, pg 400) plus or minus HZ Var from table 2b.

Revisting Gunmaker:

Some clarification of the portability terms and criteria would be helpful. Does "Fixed" indicate something constructed on site or is this a towed or otherwise transported piece incapable of moving on its own? "Vehicle Mount" and "Turret" seem reversed regarding mass; "Turret" mass falls in a range that could describe a ring mount or perhaps an aircraft turret, while "Vehicle Mount" could describe either a tank's main gun or a limited traverse self-propelled artillery piece (and even so, the weight given for this tops out at 1000 kg and seems a bit light).

This item doesn't have page numbers. Please help me keep what's left of my sanity.

217

Anyhow, I have a question about Gun Maker. How updated is the 5.09 version? Because I have a few comments I posted on another thread here but I don't know whether they really belong if it's going to get the same treatment as combat eventually.

Actually I think I can make a specific complaint / suggestion. It is unclear in the makers, whether modifiers are applied in order of appearance, order of operations, or some other order. This matters a lot when it comes to the multipliers. My opinion having played around with the makers a bit is you get far fewer weird results if multipliers are applied last as other modifiers will often reduce results below zero if applied in sequence of appearance after a x1/2 for rather ordinary things like a light wheeled car. This would reverse the normal order of operations of add first then multiply.

83: spelling error

On page 83, left side, under the DNA section:

The title for the Alien DNA section is spelled ALLEN (I used all caps for clarity only). Alternately, it may be using a capital I as the 3rd character. Can't really tell with that font.

83: Spelling error #2

On page 83, left side, under the DNA ... section, third paragraph:

The parenthetical phrase is spelled "(or less that)". It probably should be "(or less than)"
