T5 MAJOR RACES: ALIENS 1 - 8

It's actually capitalism in it's rawest form.

You know, dog eat dog.

Though, wouldn't that be cannibalism?

Assuming Vargr have either moral, religious, or culinary scruples about that.

Most sentients should have issues with cannibalism. Why? Disease.

Any blood borne disorders are quite likely to be passed on by cannibalism.

Prion disorders are also prime candidates for cannibalistic transmission. (Until recently, it was thought that KJD, Kuru, and BSE were different disorders- nope. The same - one particular protein, in its prion form, is both anatomically useless and builds up in the brain. KJD is caused by random radiation induced flipping of the protein to the prion state. Kuru is caused by cannibalistic eating of the brains and/or nerves of infected individuals during the funerary customs of the cannibalistic tribes in Papua New Guinea. And BSE is caused by eating nerves of infected cattle - in whom it spreads via feed containing cattle by products, and by random mutation to the prion form.)

Vargr are not stupid. They will, generally, have a widespread bias against infectious diseases and activities that create significant risks of transmission. They won't have as strong a bias as humans, but still, they will have a pack and self preservation bias.

That does imply some trial and error; which can take us in several directions.

Inbreeding, which may make the Vargr reluctant to engage in breeding programmes amongst themselves.

Hard justice, a formal judicial system that can impose it's will on all voluntary and less voluntary participants, compared to a soft one, where the verdict and compensation are negotiated.

Marxism-Leninism, since Communism got a mention. I'm sure that there will be several attempts at this, but imposing a political system on Vargr seems a rather doomed experiment. Communalism. Though Vargr may well think that some are just more equal than others.

Totally at a tangent here, it occurs to me to wonder if Vargr Vacc suits have tails? To aid in nonverbal communication of course. :)

It would seem logical, but then there are probably engineering and efficiency advantages to keeping the tail in the central body cavity of a vacuum suit.

Shalom,

So the tail is fitted with sensors that monitor the limited movement allowance within the main body and translate/transmit it to a "finger" mounting atop the helmet to indicate tail language ;)

have fun

I don't think macho Vargr would like the idea of walking around with their tail between their legs.

I'm sure there must be some pictures of Vargr in vacc suits, though I can't recall any off hand. The picture that springs to my mind is the one of the Droyne in battledress with a spiked ball at the end of his tail.

I have a ton of Vargr art, some of it is even canon, and out of all the pics, I have ONE that shows the tail while in a Vacc Suit or BD.
Maybe, it's a customized suit option that most cannot afford, or don't bother with? Essentially, another pocket of atmosphere that needs to be compensated for......

The way that humans can deal with Vargr may be short term employment contracts, long enough to get the job done, short enough that they don't start coming to the conclusion they can do it better.
