Traveller Sightings!

Am I the only one that was under this assumption? I am more than happy to admit to my own ignorance if this was explained on the preorder page and I simply missed it.
My understanding of the pre-order was so QLI could get an idea of the demand for the product (and thus order the right size of print run) AND get a hold of our money ahead of time to help front the printing costs. Neither bothered me then, nor now.

Of course, I did go out and buy a book from my FLGS last night, but I was always planning on doing so for a couple reasons:
1) I'll need two copies so I can share them around my group, not all of whom can afford to make the investment.
2) It will help drive up the demand so the FLGS will continue to support the product line in the future.
3) Others will see someone buying it, ask questions, and maybe make the purchase themselves.
4) It puts more $$$ into Hunter's and MJD's pockets so they can keep crankin out the Traveller goodness (and bumping my Sociability score ;) .

Jim, seriously, its only gonna be a few more days. And compared to the 7 month delay (remember the book was supposed to be out in March), or compared to the time since we last had a GOOD rules version of Traveller (anywhere from ~3 to 25 years ago) this is NOTHING.

SDM is right, this is a whole lot shorter than the last time we waited (and waited...).
For anyone in Arkansas, T-20 is in the state!
Picked mine up an hour ago, Scanned it for my old friend Bryan Gibson's art (weapons, Ships in the back half are ALL his Ung-GOWA!

Btw BG, 5 Stars FANDAMNTASTIC!

Now my e-mail ether order with BiTS stuff is late.. but I can wait-this is a super book, gonna get refreshed on d20-itis!

I broke down and lunch and grabbed up one of the 4 copies our FLGS had gotten in today. I'll just use my Pre-Ordered copy as an extra table copy when I start running my campaign.

The book looks incredible!

Now if only I could get the boss out of the office for the rest of the afternoon

I stopped by my FLGS today (Spare Time Shop, Marlborough, MA...plug, plug) and they didn't have a copy yet.
:(

I agree that there has not been a good version of Traveller for the time period you mentioned (having no use for anything since CT) and I hope that the gentle reader will attribute my previous post to the eagerness I have to receive my copy of the book.

Also, I merely wanted to point out how the assumptions of what a "preorder" consists of have seemingly evolved over the last few years.

Enough said. When are the preorders going out???
Can't wait to devour the book!

I was at the 3 Trolls FLGS in Chelmsford, MA looking at the last copy of T20 they had.

From what I saw, it looks great.

While I was going through it, someone asked what I reading.
When I told him it was the brand spanking new D20 version of Traveller, he started drooling.

I handed it over & he scampered over to the register with it.

I'm still waiting for mine to arrive. :(

Showed my copy to one of my core D20 players during lunch today. He was drooling after 2 minutes of leafing through it.

His quote "This is definitely not D&D in space."

After lunch we headed to our FLGS, and he purchased his own copy - he said that the cover price was steep, but agreed it was worth it.

I should note that he had no interest in Traveller prior to seeing the book. He passed over a previous game I was running in GT a few years back and his schedule precludes him from joining my current T20 game.

After scanning the book, he is asking how soon I could start up another T20 game that he could play in. How's that for making a convert!

So, any bonuses to my SOC as a commission for the sale???

Isn't one of the reasons for preordering something (months in advance in this case) is to receive it before it hits the store shelves?
I was wondering the same thing... My game store has had T20 for a week now, I'm not even sure when I'll be getting my 2 pre-ordered copies. we'll just have to wait I guess. :(

Let me make one thing clear, we never promised you'd get them earlier than anyone else. Most of you got 20% off the list price and everyone got a copy of TA#2 for free. That was all we promised.

While we would have dearly liked to have gotten them to you before anyone else, it takes time to have 6+ pallets of books shipped from Canada down to Georgia, and it takes time to process some 300+ individual preorders, get them packed and sent out. We're doing the best job we can, but we can only do it so fast.

The last of the preorders should be going out the door tomorrow (Monday) so you should have them very shortly.

I can do no more than apologize for the delay.

Hey, for the deal you offered, I'll wait!
I may whine a bit, but let's not mistake that for complaining.

From the brief period I had a T20 book in my hand (before handing off to someone to buy), I'd say it worth it.

I've already got a character in mind for the TML Character contest I want to put together in T20.

Forgiven. Now I can truly anticipate the arrival of the rulebook in my mailbox ... THIS WEEK. </font>[/QUOTE]Well all domestic orders will have a delivery confirmation on them so we should be able to track any order that goes astray. I'd say if you don't have it by Monday of next week (the 27th) here in the US to drop us an email and well check on it.

Cool, this at leat gives me a time frame on when I should be looking for it to arrive, and who to shoot an email to if I don't see it by the 28th or so.

From what I'm hearing from other who have it, I'm dying to get my grubby little hands on it. :D

Thanks for the update Hunter!

You could always have the people delivering the package send us a webpage so we could track the order as well as in what Warehouse 23 (SJgames store) does

The US Postal Service doesn't have such a service for Priority Mail packages. All Delivery Confirmation does is tell you if the package has been delivered. It's useful for shippers to make sure packages got through , but not so useful to receivers (its main purpose is to avoid being scammed by people who swear they never got a shipment). This is a case where you really do get what you pay for; Priority Mail is generally cheaper than UPS.

I did not get a copy of TA#2 although I did preorder 2 copies of T20. Did I do something wrong?

Well, I have to say that I am somewhat disapointed in the speed of the pre-ordered books shipping. I realize that it probably couldn't be helped, but I did expect to get it arround the same time it showed up in the stores.

On the other hand: I saved money, I got TA#2 free, and my pre-order purchase probably helped out QLI slightly by giving them some cash in advance to get T20 going. All in all, not a bad deal. Next time I will probably support my local game store - they need my support too.
;)

Did you pay via PayPal? We didn't have it set up for the T20 preorder but we did get a couple that way. If this is how you ordered I can fix you up.

If you payed through our store with a credit card, you should have gotten an order confirmation email that included a link from which you could download TA #2.
