My understanding of the pre-order was so QLI could get an idea of the demand for the product (and thus order the right size of print run) AND get a hold of our money ahead of time to help front the printing costs. Neither bothered me then, nor now.Originally posted by jim_hopper:
I'm not trying to be overly critical here. I am more interested in whether I was wrong to think that I would get my preordered book before the stores. Am I the only one that was under this assumption? I am more than happy to admit to my own ignorance if this was explained on the preorder page and I simply missed it.
Of course, I did go out and buy a book from my FLGS last night, but I was always planning on doing so for a couple reasons:
1) I'll need two copies so I can share them around my group, not all of whom can afford to make the investment.
2) It will help drive up the demand so the FLGS will continue to support the product line in the future.
3) Others will see someone buying it, ask questions, and maybe make the purchase themselves.
4) It puts more $$$ into Hunter's and MJD's pockets so they can keep crankin out the Traveller goodness (and bumping my Sociability score .
Jim, seriously, its only gonna be a few more days. And compared to the 7 month delay (remember the book was supposed to be out in March), or compared to the time since we last had a GOOD rules version of Traveller (anywhere from ~3 to 25 years ago) this is NOTHING.
