I think there should be wet water shipping "piers"
for use on "water" worlds. they should be "attached" to Star Port...depends on where port is located on thw water world. opens more ideas.

Good idea TJ for water worlds, although wouldn't "softports" (floating downports) be one of those TL-options? Some higher tech, atmosphere unfreindly worlds (Say Nemyer BAAA988-B/ Old Expanses (later called Baldur TNE)..with that atmosphere, wouldn't they consider Submerged porting?
If breathable atmosphere like Mythmere divides things, yeah.. but for the nasty air worlds, I think submerged ports bestter (unless the seas themselves are corrosive!).

Good idea! don't run out of em!

The same applies for the landside transportation. Containers and bulk cargo could move out on subterranean highways, passengers by subway/tube. On water worlds, those could be replaced by submarines.

Imagine a port like Singapore, Long Beach or Rotterdam, but with a Class B or C starport. Huge post-Panamax containerships tying up at the starport piers, gantry cranes offloading to cargo handlers for transit to the hangers for loading.

I think this would go either in the new column on transportation, "outside transportation" OR in "Fleshing it out, " depending on how Liam and Shane eventually edit the whole thing. I would think "Transportation." Liam, if you agree, you could insert or copy Paul's post into the transportation topic - I think he summarizes all of the other posts in this topic.
