Which of Shakespear's plays could be redone in Traveller?

Not do-abel in a Traveller way(1)

+ The Hunchback of Notre Dame

+ Sigfried/Sigurd

+ James Fennimore-Coopers "Hawkeye/Deerslayer"

+ Treasure Island

+ Homers Ilias lacking the gods(2). I can do the Odysey without them.

+ Arthur Conan Doyles "Holmes" since this would be a 1:1 or a "stupid sidekicks watching". Same goes for Spillanes "Mike Hammer"

Pulp Classics
=============

These are not really "classics", they are pulp. But old pulp:

E.E."Doc" Smith Space Circus d'Alembert works as a Traveller Scenario. Spys disguised as a circus

Quite a few of the Conan Stories have him with a group. The story arc where he is with the Pirat Queen should work nicely

Possibly funny Adaptions
========================

While not classics (they are 70s/80s TV shows) one might try to adapt:

+ Dempsey and Makepeace.

Replace USA with Vagr Client State or put it shortly after the final Interstellar War and replace USA with Terranian Confederation. The other players take on Chas, the Super Intendent etc. Just make sure the Vagr does not order an Intrepid/Trepinda from the weapons dealer

+ Mission Impossible (TV shows, NOT the movies(3))

+ Cagney and Lacy with the rest of the group taking Isbecky, Markus etc.

(1) You can set the scenarios on a low-tech planet but not in "Space"
(2) That also makes "Troja" a bit boring. My prime character is Sean Bean as Odysseus doing the Sharps: "Close the ranks, keep on fighting, steady man"
(3)While not bad movies the feel is different. It's Cruise+Sidekicks rather that "The Team"

Definately NOT the movies.

I had to sit through MI:2 while wait for the second feature at a drive in.

Come on! I know that Tom Cruise is vain but carrying around a mask of one's own head to stick on someone else? Give me a break!

McLeans "Guns of Navarone" is doabel. Replace the island channel with the only possible refueling system, WWII with SolRim War or Rebellion. "Where Eagles Dare" might be doable in a SolRim context, replace "Guy who knows Overlord plan" with "Guy who knows Assault on Terra" plan

GoN has the blueprint outlined in Classic Adventure #7: Broadsword, what with the Deep Site Meson gun at Garda-Vilis (see p7 middle of the page).

WED might work with a large mercenary group who's holed up on some planet in the middle of cadre training. It kinda ties into the "Ten Little Indians" plot, as more and more members of the team die off towards the culmination.

Are we thinking of the same novel? WED for me is a small (<10 IIRC) bunch of allied paratroopers landing near a german/austrian castle high up the hill to liberate or kill an allied PoW that knows the plans for Overlord. At least that is the official version.

Maybe you mean "The Eagle has landed" where German Paras try to capture Churchill? That might also be doabel

yes, the Schloss Adler (or was is Adler Schloss ? -- Mad magazine had funny satire on it years back), but it's also an ongoing-murder mystery as the team finds a dead body every so often shortly after landing and it has to be one of them amongst the team.

it's set in a snowy, alpine setting, much like the movie: Ten Little Indians.

I just got done watching The Man Who Never Was which probably could be done as a Traveller adventure. I read the book, many years back.

Might make a good adventure for the Fifth Frontier Wars or the new GURPS, Interstellar Wars.

I started putting together an adventure based on 'The Man Who Would Be King' once. I statted it up for Humans, but it might also work with Aslan outcasts. Hmm. I wonder if I still have my notes...

Guns of Navarone was done as a scenario pack for Behind Enemy Lines (the WWII RPG from FASA which used the CT rules). I also did an 'Eagle has Landed' scenario for the same rules, which I ran again a few years ago at a show here in the UK.

I recently picked up the Niven-world's The Man Who Would be Kzin, but haven't gotten to it yet.

I rather liked Niven's and A Bertram Chandler's treatment of psionics which weren't always for the bad guys, although I'm sure many Trav fans have used psionics for Imps.

I considered doing "The Ransom of Red Chief" to my group.

'The Tempest' is doable with Ancient Technology ala 'Forbidden Planet'. 'Twelfth Night', 'Much Ado about Nothing', 'Romeo & Juliet'. Did 'Casino Royale'& Alistair McLean's 'Satan Bug'. Wrote up Hammond Innes 'Wreck of the Mary Deare' as a con scenario that never happened. Rewrote the Tortuga camapign after catching 'Cutthroat Island' (the concept, the villain & the heroine were very similar to Bette, her uncle & a treasure not to add some details in. Though I tend to twist a lot of the charcters from books & movies to freak players. (instance, made Darth Vader the head of IBIS).
