Bromgrev: did I hear you say "No smoking"?! :eek: You mean, No?! :eek: Smoke?! :eek: -Ing?! :eek:

Nobody told me this is a smoke free board! Goddammit! What am I supposed to do, then?

<Looks around for fire exits, stationery cupboards, oxygen cylinder store rooms....> Hmmmm....

Guess I'll just have to go and stand under that leaky ol' bit of corrugated iron roof over there.

<lights up smoke and walks to said leaky roof>

<Puff> <puff> <cough> <puff> <puff> <puff> <cough> <puff> <hackhackhack-retch-coughcoughcough-hackhackhack> <puff> <puff> <puff>

Ah, the first smoke of the day. Ya can't beat it. ;)

Welcome aboard, people

P.S. I'm a smoker, doncherknow ;)

Sir, that's not a "leaky ol' bit of corrugated iron roof", that's one of our state-of-the-art hydrazine storage facilities.

Waitaminnit ... did you say "leaky"?!?
:eek: :eek: :eek:

Yeah, that's the one, got a nice rhythymic "dripdrip-dripdrip" leak...hydrazine makes pretty colours on the tarmac, when the light hits it right.

<puffpuff> Right, now, where I can put this still lit cigarette butt out? Can't see anything handy, so I'll just have to follow the good ol' Solomani tradition of flicking it away, then crossing my fingers and walking off whilst whistling a pointless tune......

<flick>

<whistleswwhistlewhistle....>

*BBBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM!!!*

*Jame looks, with a very cross expression, at Gruffty.*

"Now see what hydrazine does? You're lucky we've got insurance! (mumbled) Dratted smokers, that's the third one we've lost this month!"

And let us not forget about those Stinky old cigars that Trader Jim Favors...

(I wonder if he has a smoking area aboard the King Richard?)

Sitting back in my chair; lights up a nice big stoggie- watching the burning building and smiles! Teach these people to try and find a place to smoke at! Why not just stay where you are and light up? After all we do have medical treatments for deseases related to smoking; I think!

I like this conversation!

You forget, Fritz88...Hivers sommunicate via arm flapping, writing and drawing. So fag in mouth, tentacles a-flapping and a-writing. No problem for a modern, 57th C Hiver.

Advert:

"A real Hiver smokes Six Eyes brand. A smooth blend of premium K'Kree tobacco, specially grown, dried and rolled in the Federation for discerning Hivers everywhere. Only Cr 1.50 for a pack of 24. Great value with a smooth taste. Remember, a real Hiver smokes Six Eyes brand."

Yup, makes sense to me if Hivers don't vocalise but need free tentacles to wave and draw/write. ;)

Anyway, where the heck is a Hiver's mouth?

You may not want to know. I am now running a total of three Hivers, including our plucky Benjamin on these very boards...

Since Hivers have a combined "Cloaca" that does a lot of things including eating, The lads tend to eat in thier cabins. Only Claudius of Fornax in the TNE era smokes, but he literally doesn't inhale, preferring to watch it burn and smell it.

Thanx, Fritz, for the welcome. Have been away from "the game" and gaming in general for quite a while (about 15 years since last "Travelling").

Just started scratching the surface of what this BBS has to offer -- there's a wealth of info here. I always liked the fact that Traveller's "hard science" core always attracted a thoughtful, creative, science-oriented (i.e. relatively more "reasoned") constituency. Good to learn things haven't changed in that respect.
