• Welcome to the new COTI server. We've moved the Citizens to a new server. Please let us know in the COTI Website issue forum if you find any problems.
  • We, the systems administration staff, apologize for this unexpected outage of the boards. We have resolved the root cause of the problem and there should be no further disruptions.

Who are we?

Welcome SpacerX, well said. I like how Traveller seems to attract the mil crowd bringing to the boards a level of reason and an ability to get along well in groups. Myself only a "vet" by proxy (my father spent 24 years in the USAF) and work with the AFOSR for several years.

GIG 'EM AGGIES !!

The "Spring Chicken" comment (which made me feel a little younger after a rather hard and haggard work week, thank you for it!
) made me think, I hope some true spring peeps discover our beloved game and find the decades of enjoyment that we all found! Hell, I've been "travelling" since I was literally 8 years old (bought the LBBs because of the cool sci-fi stuff, which I'm proud of because as you all know the LBBs weren't art heavy - although I didn't actually game until I was 12). I've always found Traveller as one of the greatest pressure-release mechanisms that didn't involve slaughtering brain cells  and it remains the same to this day.

Oh yes, many thanks to Fritz88 for the welcome!

(Had to edit - almost forgot to mention, when not on Pavanne or Nulinad, I'm not too far from you Fritz88 - southern PA, not far from Point Marion if somehow you've ever heard of it. If so, I'm simply in shock)

So, BillDowns, did you go somewhere else for the computer part of your degree? Or, did you learn programming on "Speak and Spell"? (Sorry, I had to take a swipe at the guy who admitted he was an Aggie! :D )

hydrozoa, I don't know where Point Marion is, but I've probably been close by at some point in my wanderings (all 50 states, 2 territories, ~30 countries).

We know y'all are jealous :D

Are you from the Great Republic of Texas, too?

;) Maybe from the University of Sodom and Gomorrah over there in Austin?

I grew up in the DFW area. (Went to school at a small boy's school - well, it used to be - in the Rockies.) Welcome, again!

Welcome Bill.

I'm from the Great and Sovereign Republic of TX, grew up in AZ, currently in the big D.

Neither an Aggie nor a Longhorn. Sun Devil.

[FYI if you've been to Pittsburgh, you've accidentally been fairly close to Point Marion PA (if you've been to Uniontown even closer)]

I was in Uniontown just 4 years ago for Christmas.
Great place to spend the holidays.
I went to mass at that big old Catholic church down town. Standing room only and the place seats more than 1,500.

I Also visited that Frank Loyd Wright house "falling water" just down the road while it was in the preservation mode. Very cool place.

I've only been to Fallingwater once, believe it or not - a bit pricey but worth it if you can afford to take the tour.
So at least one person has seen little Uniontown.
Not a bad place, Summit Mountain and the Laurel Highlands provide some great scenery and outdoor enjoyment.
BTW Johnnie, have you been to the Gettysburg battlefield (your name and rank make me ask)? One of the must-see places in the United States IMO. If you ever find yourself there, look at Pickett's Charge from both perspectives. Looks much shorter from the Confederate perspective; looks like eternity from the wall.

I am sorry to say that I missed that little adventure. I plan on taking my wife there sometime in the next few years (after a trip to Cancun and one to Ireland).

I love visiting battlefields. I lived for many years Down in North Carolina near the Kings Mountain and Cowpens Battlefields. Both American Revolution war battle fields. Such peacful looking places for so much violence to have occured there.

I went to the D-Day landing beaches for 2 weeks when I was at school. Now that was extremely sobering and thought provoking. Looking up at the bluffs those guys had to get up was an experience.

Looking down on the same beaches from the german pillboxes was weird.
