• Welcome to the new COTI server. We've moved the Citizens to a new server. Please let us know in the COTI Website issue forum if you find any problems.
  • We, the systems administration staff, apologize for this unexpected outage of the boards. We have resolved the root cause of the problem and there should be no further disruptions.

Name: James - I was here about a year back, but had to duck out for RL issues
Age: 38
Country: USA, NYC
Favorite version of Traveller: LBB123
Military Service: Nada. Mapseller.
Favorite Supplement: Spinward Marches.
Favorite Sector : Spinward Marches, BUT..
Favorite Race : Vilani, BUT...
Favorite Empire : Much prefer a homespun, small-ship, LBB123 either without a monolithic Imperium or with one so hands-off as to be nearly nonexistent: one where two ships meeting have are more like two strangers meeting on a dark, empty street and less like two strangers bumping into each other in a crowded subway car.

Hmmm... I guess this is as good a place as any to post what might be my first post on these boards...

Age: 31
Country: Sweden
Favorite version of Traveller: MT (barely played any of the others, I must admit).
Military Service: Fwd. Observer, Royal Swedish Artillery (conscription is such a wonderful thing, no?)
Favorite Supplement: Fighting Ships of the Shattered Imperium.
Favorite Sector : Own creation.
Favorite Race : Vilani (surprised?)
Favorite Empire : Ziru Zirka ("1st Edition").

EDIT: According to the forum, I registered in 2005, and I recall making a few posts back then. I guess the board has been migrated/updated since then (I've barely been here in three years), either that or my memory is failing me.

Yes, it's your first post-that-counts.
Yes, the board has been migrated to a very different set of software since then.

End-note: I inherited my long-time friend's CT books, and they sat in my closet for a couple of years. I went to put them on eBay to clean closet space (and garner some additional gaming budget), sat down to look them over, and recalled all the great games he ran...I've never run CT before, but will now. I've since ordered the CT CD-ROM from Marc, some Traveller TNE: 1248 stuff from COMSTAR, and done much reading here (leading to my first set of house rules) and on the Mongoose site (still leaning against it, but only slightly: I'll probably wait for the reviews and inevitable Mongoose bugs to get worked out).

Back to black-globe mode.

Name: rust / Rudolf (no reindeer jokes, please ...)
Age: 50
Country: Germany
Favorite version of Traveller: GURPS Traveller
Military Service: yes, air force medic
Favorite Supplement: First In
Favorite Sector: Demara (homebrew)
Favorite Race: Humaniti
Favorite Empire: none

I have been playing Traveller since ca. 1978, and currently I am working on
another one of my homebrew settings, this time a human colony on a water
world on the edge of my homebrew non-Traveller universe.
While I use many Traveller elements for the setting, I prefer to use the new
BRP as its roleplaying system - I just like the d100 ... :(

MMMMMMM.... Homebrew. Is your homebrew a nice Pilsner? :D

Welcome! Are you planning to look at T-5? From looking at playtest materials it looks like it is going to be well worth it.

Yep, I will look at both Mongoose Traveller and T-5, especially for interesting
systems for character biographies, shipbuilding and interstellar trade.

Started playing Traveller in 1982, mostly inactive since about 1993 other than a short-lived GURPS Traveller campaign in 1999, but I still buy the books. I wrote a few articles for fanzines in the early 1990s on Traveller and 2300 AD.

Name: Malcolm
Age: 46
Location: London, England
Military Service: Infantry
Favourite Version: Only played CT back when it first came out in the 70's (liked the character and ship design + Spinward Marches milieu - thought combat rules awful).

I'm now a complete Newb to all th the other versions now out there (and frankly a bit confused by the multiverses!).

But I'm not confused at all!

I just refuse to accept the existence of any of the other universes :smirk:
