If that's the case then how much power would the party have within the larger polities that exist as member states within the Confederation?

Most of the people who have been participating in this thread seem to take DGP's view. Others might take the GDW/SJG/MGP view. It's really up to the individual referee to determine how much power the member states actually have.

Honestly, when I look at the big picture I really don't see much of a difference between the Confed and Imperium, both of which are comprised of multiple smaller power blocs competing with each other in the larger frame.

One of the bad habits is always to assume that the Imperium is one big uniform state and thus by extension so are the surrounding states.

Circling around to my dog in this fight is the dispersion of certain aliens throughout regions of Known space, in that they will be just as dispersed as humaniti.

I never much cared for the Imperium, so I tended to view it as more unified than I probably should have.

I started playing Traveller before there was an Imperium. Well, there was one, but nobody knew about it unless they had the boardgame.

Even after it was introduced, there was still plenty of room for interpretation. That might be how some of the views originated.

Land Grab

Would anybody be interested in doing a Land Grab for the Rimward Sectors?

I was thinking that each of us could grab/create a Pocket Empire, detail it, and post the results here.
