Hi
Hi,
Getting a little away from SF, there is one show that I have been watching lately on TV that has had some interesting bits and pieces in it that I have thought might be of use in Traveller (or other RPG).
Its called "Burn Notice" and its on USA Network, and is about an ex-spy who has more or less been blacklisted and cut-loose by the organization he had worked for. The show centers around him trying to figure out who set him up and why. As he tries to figure out this though, he ends up taking a vairety of small jobs helping out people in trouble, etc kind of along the lines of shows like "The A-Team', "The Incredible Hulk", and "The Fugitive", etc.
At times the show can maybe be a little corny, but the characters are likable, and there are alot of little bits that could either be used as story lines for patrons, or other bits that could be useful as "chrome" etc in an RPG.
Specifically, in an episode I saw recently there was a part where he was supposed to meet someone clandestinely, but got called away on an emergency so he had to leave a message in plain sight that most people would ignore, but that he hoped the intended recipient would immediately recognize as a message to him.
In watching this, I thought to myself whether something like that could be worked into an adventure, where maybe a potential patron doesn't show up, but he left a clue that he hopes the players will understand on where to next meet him, but that hopefully others will ignore, and then see if the players are clever enough to put the pieces together.
Anyway, as I said, when watching the show a couple times the thought crosses my mind on how someone might be able to work some of that into an RPG adventure.
Regards
PF
