Nope, 2300 is just another game using Traveller rules...To make another example, Just because D&D and Traveller use D20 rules, is the history of Grehawk a part of OTU??

2000&2300 have good points, but as Gurps Transhuman Space isn't the predecessor to G:T, neither are they to traveller...

I don't think I'd go as far as MADDog but have to agree they are not the same universe, more like parallel with some divergent point in our recent or distant history. That could be tied in with the ideas being bandied about for an alternate crisis to spark T2K.

I am kind of curious why you didn't include T20 and GT in the list?

Anyway, I presume yours is the yes vote so I would add there's nothing stopping you from doing it. Or even starting a thread for ideas if you're looking, though it might be slow going judging by the votes.

I did think the poll would be a little more split than this...oh, well. I have the the crew of the Bayern (a 2300 module) meet the Vilani far out in space rather than Barnards. I didnt include T20 & G:T as they are 'essentially' set roughly at the time of CT (circa 1000).

While I think it would be aesthetically pleasing for there to be a Traveller history "Grand Unification Theory", which is why I voted in favour of a contigious timeline, I think it is near impossible to accomplish. Besides, I can always opt out with the IMTU claim. So, as a practical game wide application such a timeline would be helpful but not authoritative in my humble opinion and IMTU!

The 2300 universe just isn't compatible with the canonical Traveller universe, in terms of astrography, history, technology or alien races.

Any attempt to shoehorn them together would result in major changes to one or both of the established backgrounds; we might as well try and link in Dark Conspiracy and Dangerous Journeys while we're at it
. Frankly, I can't see the point - it's one of those megalomaniac "Marvel Universe" type ideas. What's the gain?
