All right, Liam! I especially love the "three bowls".There's a great lead-in for a team of bounty hunters....
That gives us three so far:
1. Star Legion - Julian Protectorate (Falkayn) http://www.falkayn.com/traveller/jp/starlegion.html
2. 4th Kentari Jaegers - Solomani (eclipse)
3. Harper's Hoplites - Mercenary (Liam Devlin)

thought I recognised the name. heh. Didn't know that about him. I only know the name because it's one of the AI levels for the russian player in the Computer version of Axis and Allies.
Zhukov I mostly remember for his comment about the brits rub goldberg devices for removing mines...
"Don't you have Infantry?"[/QUOTE

Koniev was less the prima donna and more the traditionalist commander-tactic wise. Zhukov was innovative and brilliant, but he used his infantry to clear minefields for the armor to rollover their blasted bodies. And they probably weren't party-members either!
Zhukov's idea for using Bomber search lights to blind the Germans crossing the Oder was a great idea--it also silhouetted all of his tanks crossing the river for the '88's to whittle down.
Koniev created an artillery hellstorm by contrast and (and rolled over what remained of dazed and deafened German resistance towards the city.
A Ruthless man. Koniev was from Cossack stock, Zhukov was a maverick, but he'd saved Russia's bacon vs the Japanese in manchuria in 38. ANd arrived in time to save Moscow 41.
There was Japanese - Soviet action in '38? I remember couple of half-heart assaults and over enthusiastic sabre rattling that happenned a year or two before Pearl Harbor.Originally posted by Liam Devlin:

So how does this Chick with Harper's Hoplites compare? Ex-Impie Marine but... what... enquiring minds want to know.

Interesting. hmmm what date are you assuming for the hoplites?
Do they exist in the time frame of the Kursis Charter (Start of rim war?)

One thing that always amazed me about the Soviets are the complete 180s they did in order to win the Patriotic War (Thier name for WWII).
</font>I may hated the Soviet Union's government and ideology, I have to take my hat off for the Russian people.
- From a badly trained and equiped military with a purged officer corp to a well trained machine.</font>
- The Soviets lost virtually all thier industrial base with the German invasion of 1941. What they didn't lose or destroy they moved east into Siberia. Within a year they had new factories producing equipment. The Stalingrad encirclement in 1942 was one of the first benefactors of these new industrial cities.</font>
OK, so checking what I've got on the Star Legion so far, I already have:Originally posted by Antares Administration:
Lookin' good! For anyone thinking of posting new work in this genre, could I suggest that we try and standardize the layout? That way, users will always know where to look for the info that they want.
The outline I suggested earlier was:
a. Introduction
b. History of the Service/Force/Unit
c. BASIC Equipment
d. TO&Es (Organization)
e. Intro Doctrine/Tactical Manual?
e. Campaign/Mission/Ticket Suggestions (not like "Linkworlds Cluster", but rather some basic guidelines and plot suggestions for GMs)
e. Famous/infamous characters (possible NPCs)
f. General service NPCs
