As a veteran of the US military, I am more than a bit insulted by the comment, as I suspect that most if not all of the veterans here.

I have also filed formal complaints about your comments with Spinward Scout, McPerth, Cryton, and Mark Miller. I strongly encourage all other veterans to do the same. Enough is enough.

Agreed and have just finished the same. I'm PISSED.

And is this absolutely necessary for the combat service support or supply support of a fleet or army engaged in combat? I believe that is what the thread was originally about.

I missed the issuing of that particular item. I'm sure it must have been and over-site on the part of the US Army. God knows they issued me everything else.

I'll quote an old Navy Chief on being asked for shore leave by a sailor wanting to see his wife.

"If the Navy had wanted you to have a wife, they'd have issued you one!"

Whether or not it's "vital", history says that it's likely to be adopted - also note most auxiliary vessels aren't essential to the combat role - bases can hold most of the roles except for recovery ships and tankers.

Only recovery ships and tankers have guaranteed places in he auxiliary fleets. Anything else is icing on the cake, not essential for combat operations. Useful, even.

But seeing as how some people have this fixation that their moraltiy precludes reality, and the thread's been reported, the thread is closed until further notice.

And Timerover, until you actually KNOW the rules, don't try complaining about them. You've gotten it wrong every time you've tried.
