Hello and a question

Hello.

I have a question.
Where does one go to get a licence to make a Traveller website - like the one found on TravellerMap? I tried the Far Future website, but you can only buy things there...
I have created some sector data for sectors around the edge of Charted Space, and some world write-ups, and I wouldn't know where to publish them, apart from creating a site of my own.
Any help?

From the FFE site: http://farfuture.net/FFEFairUsePolicy2008.pdf

You need only to follow the instructions in there. Note that it excludes Mongoose Traveller...

If you need a commercial license, you'll need to email marc directly.

If you want to do Mongoose Traveller, there's an entirely different policy.

So publishing sector data I created would constitute fair use?

BTW is there any web site interested in sector data or anything?

You can publish it free if it complies with the FFE disclaimer notice. If it's particularly good, you can offer to let Marc Miller put it up on DTRPG so that people can pay for physical copies via POD; Marc has done that for one fan-supplement to date. (MT Robots.)

If you restrict yourself to the non-OTU MGT OGL/TTL licenses*, you can actually charge for the product. But note: A payment-worthy alternate setting is more than just maps and UWP's. I'll also note that a well done MGT sector supplement would also be quite useable for CT, MT, TNE, and T4 as far as maps and UWP's go...

* (The TTL requires using the OGL, but the OGL doesn't require the TTL, but if you don't use the TTL, you can't use the Traveller name outside the OGL license text.)

You may be able to have them loaded as new, or even alternate, sectors on the Trav map site itself. Contact the webmaster and see what is possible. ;)

I've added data for Grikr!ng Sector.
I don't have any other finished data, but sectors currently in progress include Amderstun Sector, Luretiir!girr Sector and X'kug Sector, and some others.

And Centrax Sector (I forgot that one). Plus, I am working on a project involving the Orion OB1 Confederation, which I have placed rimward of the Hive Federation, touching the small rift visible on TravellerMap. As part of this, I have created the top 4 subsectors (more will follow, of course) of the sector at X+6/Y+10 (Trailing 6, Rimward 10).

If anyone wants me to publish some of the unfinished or tackle a specific sector, please ask! :)
(or put a post on the website, if you have a Wikispaces account)

That is what I used for the sectors I rendered, the Theta Borealis sector is over in the campaigns section under Beyond the Frontier, though I also have Astron, Fulani and Theron rendered that I will attach there at some point.

I've added a map for Harea Sector.
I'll probably add maps for the other two soon. I'll also add a page about the Orion OB1 project.

I've added maps for Grikr!ng Sector and Tlyasea Sector.

Any feedback on the explorerbase site and/or the data etc.?

I have recently started working on Tar'G'kell'p Sector (which won't take very long, since it is mostly rift area) and am also working on Amderstun Sector, and others, of course. Any comments about the site or anything? (I now have maps for all three sectors, and a (hopefully ;)) comprehensible Orion OB1 page)
