Honor Harrington setting?

Mysterion

SOC-10
Just curious, has anyone adapted the Honor Harrington series and/or setting to Traveller?

If so, how has it worked out?

I've thought about the comparative tech levels, but nothing else. The H.H. series seems to be at an overall tl14-15, with a few tl16/17 (mainly the grav drive and perhaps the battledress) elements. This is just the Star Kingdom, though. Haven is in the mid tl-14 era, and the Andermani are mostly in late tl14/early tl15. As in Traveller, there are many places with lower tls and possibly a couple with higher (e.g. the H.H. Sollies). However, I haven't tried to adapt any H.H. tech to Traveller.

I do wonder if David Weber has ever encountered Traveller?

Funny this topic comes up. I was just compiling a list of things to stat out as I am reading through the books. I have contacted Mr. Weber to get his blessing on posting any conversions to D20 here. I'm starting with Tree cat, and then some of the tech from the "March" series.

I don't know if he has had Traveller experience, but I definately know that Hunter has met him... so I guess in a way... ;)

We are trying to get in touch with the fellow handling licensing for HH currently. I corresponded with Mr Weber a few months ago and was informed that the licensing rights are held by a third party who is trying to put together a series based on the books. We have not yet heard back unfortunately. I will see if I can't follow up and manage to get in touch with the proper person.

Hunter,

Any chance you could also get Jefferson P. Swycaffer to write up his stuff for T20? Or at least convience him to do another series of novels based in around the Concordant, as a Pocket Empire somewhere during the Long Night or at least the Far, Far Far Future or at least away from Charted Space.

Plus, it would be nice if T20 would explore the Concordant, as parallel TU... Traveller was at its best when there was the OTU and billions and billions of parallel universes.

I met David Weber at Consortium(Here in Houston) two years ago. He was very cool and he did a seminar on the H.H. Universe. I asked a silly question about ship sizes and the raw materials it would take to build them and then he mentioned something about "growing" hulls with nanobots and things like that. He did not get into a big explanation, but that was what he said.

In fact the outgrowth of meeting him is what lead me and Hunter to almost simultaniously one evening on the phone figure to find out about using David Mattingly for the cover art for T20 THB.

Well I've digressed enough!

Has there been any word?

BTW Hunter want any contributions to your proposal?

This is sort of an old topic... An I seem to be the"ignored" one around here... But I am curious, Hunter, so has there been any news?

Just started reading that series (only the first done) and yes, I'd be great to be able to play into that kind of Universe.

It's not too weird (yet, since I've a lot to read up) and capture what should be space travel in big, hulking ships, unlike many other settings (ST/SW).

Subs In Space is a really nice way to upt it, as long as it's not like that Wing Commander movie (PING in space???).

I'm a little lost whats the honor harrington series the only sifi books i've read where robotech

the man who read too many fantasy books :D
