Jamison's Catalog: Xboat Route Transports

I seem to remember Jane's having a plain blue cover. (Back when they still published Jane's All the World's Aircraft in book form...) Their recognition guides, though, have cool pictures on the front.

Jane's American Fighting Aircraft of the 20th Century has a navy cover with metallic gold lettering.

Assuming two pages per design:
I think a good solid, full page of Deckplan (right page) and a half page column of Data (left page) and some pictures (also left page)

Robject,

A:4 explicitly states that BT's headquarters is at Trin and the BT Centre at Glisten is merely a hub of BT operations at the spinward end of their territory... and is also responsible for the ETA (Extra-Imperial Activity) Division.

McLellan Factors - Trin
A:4 describes McClellan Factors as an interface line that has cornered the market in District 268.... McClellan's main base in on Mertactor with other facilities on Trexalon and in the Egryn subsector.

Al Morai Type MR? Transport (1000t)
The Al Morai transport in CT's 'Spinward Marches Campaign' is a broken design. Just like the 214th's battlerider tender in the same book.

Have fun,
Bill

Well, I'm not a gearhead, so I don't know about better. And I'm a grognard, so I prefer to use the original design as the yardstick. But on the gripping hand, I'm also a chronic rules-tweaker, so my designs tend to be heretical ... or at least lazy.

For example, my Standard Bridge is "free" and includes the computer.

</font><blockquote>code:</font><hr /><pre style="font-size:x-small; font-family: monospace;">Al Morai Type MK Transport
Hull 3000 tons MCr300
Jump drive Z (J4) 125 240
Maneuver drive Q (1G) 29 116
Power plant Q 46 120
Fuel 1230
Cargo 1146
Passenger SR(36) 144 18
Shuttle nests(3) 132
Crew SRs(22) 88 11
Standard Bridge 60

Deckplans

These ships are large, and deckplans are likely to be a little -- how do I say it? -- boring. After all, half of these ships are fuel and cargo.

If it helps, I'm thinking we can make these deckplans at a reduced scale. Rather than two squares to one ton, how about 50 tons per square for most of the ship, then "blowing up" any interesting areas to a higher resolution like two tons (i.e. one standard stateroom?) per square. Yes, corridors are a problem. Hmmm.

So for example, a 3000 ton vessel would have a mini-plan with 60 squares, then magnified views of engineering, the bridge, and living areas.

The deck plans for the Tukera freighter in Alien Realms only show the front crew and passenger section.

The 1259 ton cargo bay, 1240 tons of fuel tanks, the shuttle, and the engineering section are all missing :(

Note that in the adventure it is carrying 1000 tons of electronics parts - MCr100 worth of cargo.

If Tukera bought that cargo on an Industrial world using a broker 4 the most they would have paid is MCr70 - average price would be closer to MCr40.
Selling to a NI or P world, again with a broker 4, would get a minimum of MCr110 - average would be MCr200.
You could afford to make a couple of jump 4s with that sort of profit, renting your left over cargo hold for other freight from planet bound speculators ;)

Yep, and a major profit will be realised so long as the cargo is bought at an industrial world. and sold at an non-industrial world.

Should be enough to keep the shareholders happy, and subsidise other ventures that may not be as profitable.

Even if you have to make two or three jumps to get from the purchase world to the selling world and have to pay a couple of months of overheads and costs.

It may even be worth training brokers on such guaranteed profit making runs as these, so that they can be ready to trade on the more marginal commodities.

The more I think about this, the more I convince myself that brokers would have to travel to learn their markets for buying and selling purposes, and to network with brokers on other worlds in order to maintain their status.
