Jump Space Duration

Marc's jumpspace article in JTAS 24 states that the crew know the jump duration and man their stations at jump emergence time.

Jump time uncertainty would make the HG tactic of jumping with a black globe on full to launch a stealth attack impossible.
 
in MTU i use 180 hours in jump. but i also allow speed variance and 180 divides evenly by 1 though 6. (jump 2 making a jump 1 = 90 hours as example) no this is not cannon but allows for interesting race conditions between pirates and patrol ships. then for the +- i use margin of success from gurps on jump nav roll.
