Navy Picket/Screens

Yes, we are talking about FSOSI. On the other hand, I have started to bounce the basic designs against the corrected MT charts. It may be possible to salvage at least some of the ships. I have started with the BB-11. Granted, it is a useless ship, but hopefully, I can get the hang of the MT design system.

I whish you luck.

If you can salvage it, please explain me how could you fit the CPs of a 300 k dton ship on a model 5 computer (maximum CP imput 100000).

This is the way MT reflected what in HG was minumum computer per size rating.

That is easy.

Install more than 3 computers. Challenge magazine had an article on early stellar craft (Going Places, Barely by Thomas J. McCarrol & Charles E. Gannon, - Challenge 55), with most of the small ships from Gunboats & Traders built at TL 9. The 800 Ton Cruiser had 6 model 3 computers running in parallel - pg 16, last sentence.

Right now, it is looking like I'll need 3 sets of 3 Model 5/Fibs. But this is also a good learning tool for building navies at the Early Stellar Level. Fleet size, & composition will be different than at Avg Stellar or High Stellar. It will add some nifty background color. Or in the case of the Sword-Worlders, insight.

This trick is also used in the design for the Xboat tender (HT, page 81), but, canon or not, I've always seen it as cheating the system.

As I told before, I see the computer CP limit a way to simulate what in HG was the minimum computer level for some sizes of ships, and intalling more computers whould mean some parts of the ship are controled by one computer and some by another. IMO this would lead to uncordinated tasks and a raised computer failure chance.
