New Patent of Nobility

To make things a little fuzzier, I asked for a special as well...

I am the Grand Duke of Thanber (Spinward Marches 0717) by certificate. This I received long ago, before the cards were done.

By card, Lord McKinney is the Archduke of Antares (Antares 2421), granted about the same time as Andrea. I received this right after I got out of the hospital for my quadruple bypass.

My preference is the Grand Duke of Thanber, as that would make me an independent ruler. Of course, that might be superseded by the cards...

I also have an MCG for 'Conspicuous Gallantry' for the battle of Extolay, an SEH for 'Extreme Heroism' for the action on Dinomn, and two SEHs for 'Extreme Heroism' for the Defense of Regina (must be at different points). I'm also a Marquis of the Third Imperium (Mater Nova, Deneb 0221), and possess Knighthoods of Kukaa (Reft 0108) and Otrar (Verge 2137).

And not for the 5th Frontier War. According to the description of the war in SMC, the Zhodani never got within combat range of Regina. Well... with the possible exception of bombing raids -- I suppose heroic actions during such a raid might qualify for defense of Regina, if TPTB was in the mood to strecth a point.

Just received an MCG for the Final Battle of Extolay in the jump mail :)

On a related note, has anyone got graphics of the campaign medals of the 5FW, and for the gong ribbons in general (MCG, MCUF, etc)?

Give me an idea what they should look like and ribbon colors and I will do your medal bar.
I was coincidently goofing off an made a Swordie Bar.

Just got an SEH with Diamonds for Extreme Heroism — The Final Victory at Emerald card myself.

I've not seen any canonical ones. I've always envisaged the 3I awards themselves as being essentially monochrome - specifically because the article about the Imperial flag mentions that the insignia is itself not colored.

Any description anywhere?

Okay I will get cracking... give me 24 hours... villain folk hero? hmm I am open to suggestions there...

I think they might be described in GT:GF, but I don't have GT:GF...
None of the core rulebooks actually has illustrations nor textual descriptions of the actual insignia, per se.

Well, we know that the PH and up are engraved with particulars of the incident, from MGT Merc.

Funny you say that ... I just looked on the back of my RL PH and thought not a bad idea.

Proposed MCUF

The medal is an octagonal piece of metal suspended from a blue ribbon. On the obverse (front) is the depiction of a resolute soldier standing his ground and motioning for others behind him to move forward and follow him. Around the edge is engraved the words: "With Great Merit and Dedication to the Service". On the reverse is the name of the recipient.- traveller wiki

Is this worth rep? Hope you guys approve.

Proposed MCG

The medal is a metal hexagon suspended from a red cloth ribbon. On the obverse (front) is an engraved depiction of Diirdi Khirashkur, a legendary Vilani folk hero who defeated an army through skill and trickery. On the edge are the words: "For Gallantry". On the reverse is inscribed the name of the recipient.- Traveller wiki

"Diirdi Khirashkur" is the name at the bottom the medal in Bilandin.

The bust is Russian Empire's Generalissimo Alexander Suvorov, who never lost a battle.

Oooo, now those I like :)

Also, blowing my trumpet a little, thought of a citation to go with the MCG...

"On 214:1109, during the final stages of the operation to liberate Extolay (Spinward Marches 1711 Extolay B55589A-A) from Zhodani invading forces (Operation Hammerfall 2), in the outskirts of Extolay City, on Extolay, 2 Platoon, 523rd Company, Corps of Military Police, 24th Heavy Brigade, Imperial Army, while conducting critical traffic control and logistics route maintenance duties, was ambushed by elements of a well-equipped company of stay-behind Zhodani forces."

"In a well-timed and deadly onslaught, the first impacts of anti-vehicle rockets and assault plasma cannon rounds destroyed the command vehicle that was the hub of the Traffic Post, killing the Platoon commander, Platoon leader, platoon communications specialist and the platoon medic instantly. Then-Corporal Stenning, the most senior of the remaining Non-Commissioned Officers of the platoon, while wounded by shrapnel from this attack, realised the gravity of the situation, and assumed command without delay, rallied the remaining members of his platoon, and led the counter-attack that killed or wounded some 33 Zhodani commando troops with only two further KIA and eight WIA from his platoon."

"During the counter attack, Corporal Stenning used all four of his issued hand grenades, two anti-armour rockets taken from dead Zhodani soldiers, and all eight of his Gauss Rifle magazines. He personally led the final bayonet charge against the Zhodani ambushers, and by doing so with speed, aggression, determination, and force of personality that he conveyed to his subordinates, turned the tide of the ambush in his platoons favour."

"Once the counter attack had been successfully concluded, while still declining medical attention for his own wounds, he supervised the rounding up of the four surviving Zhodani prisoners, ensuring that basic medical care was applied to them, and also ensuring that the vital route control operations the platoon had been performing was continued, so as to allow urgently-needed munitions up-route, to continue the advances that Imperial Forces were conducting."

"For his dedication, gallantry under fire, and leadership, Sergeant Stenning is awarded the Medal for Conspicuous Gallantry."

That sound nicely cheesy enough? ;)

Ribbon-wise, on the uniform after the war, I'd imagine this would be present: MCG, FFW Medal with Clasps "Regina", Jenghe", and "Extolay", Wound Badge, Command Ribbon, plus any qual badges, LS&GC gongs, and so on :)

Thoughts?
