Been spending a chunk of time of the holidays going back over the inaugural PT thread and got to thinking of how much starmap you really needed to get started.

Having some idea what's to the left of the Marches might be useful, but is probably not essential, it can just be the frontier.
Personally I'm looking to base charaters in District 268 and then have them travel up and through the Marches as time progresses.
I'd be interested in how other people woyld/are approaching this.
