Clarification
Whipsnade,
Thank you for your clarification - suddenly I find myself aligning my personal views more and more with Clay's decision re his work and efforts.
I think I will put out another two issues and then hold off any further re-issues for a while, though of course all the other contributors are welcome to re-release their efforts in the meanwhile.
Ewan, Issue 11 will be sent out to you sometime today - given its size (it's also one of my favourite issues) I'd suggest a standard scan might be best (or do as separate PDF's - there are two sets of library data and an 'extra') - Theo, I'll post out ten sometime next week if that's ok?
Scott, revisited your holding page - Personally I think you and Leighton have done a fantastic job hosting all of the traveller material including Signal... Again thank you.
The history behind Signal is torturous - not sure if you want that remembered... It would be nice to have all the contributors named though... in particular the many unsung heroes behind the DDT (yes we named ourselves that deliberately) who worked so hard and for so long detailing the sector. My only comment on your holding page is that I personally was never directly involved with HIWG (see below for an explanation) beyond that it's reasonably factual - the hidden background is listed below. BITs and Andy were major factors in the final two issues seeing the light of day.
Duncan was the genius behind it all even though I'm sure he probably felt I hijacked his 'baby'. Duncan put together this wonderful and HIWG-official background to Dag' and due to a misunderstanding I thought he'd asked me to take over Dag' and so issue 1 came out (hell, in my real job I've created local currencies, bio-diesel carshare schemes, fundraising libraries and community printshops and recycling schemes amongst others - this was my attempt at a relaxing hobby). I personally think Duncan was horrified at so-much unauthorised material but he ran with us even though I think he'd have preferred to have limited our excesses more (we populated the Sector with too many aliens amongst others and made Dag' even more of a bolshy rebel at the Imperium's heart than even he'd envisioned). Despite that he supported us, encouraged us and acted as (a perhaps slightly distorted) inspiration to our efforts - hence the dedication on my holding page. It was a lot of work (over 250 copies x 40+ pages sent out each issue) and I tried to share the load without a lot of success. Although I tried guest editors and midway through Leighton became the named editor, due to personal problems he was experiencing at the time I still ended up doing all the actual editing and corrections, layouts, production, posting etc. throughout its 13 issue run as well as writing (and graphics) often under several different names to make it seem as though we had more contributors. Leighton's output as a writer throughout the run was amazing and between us issue and issue kept on being sent out. By issue 11 I was ready to give up but wanted to complete the sector (thank you Andy, your support kept it going) so it continued to run (at a loss) until issue 13 when I then handed it over completely to Leighton to continue it into Gushemege ... The rest as they say is history.
Re the other forums, sure anyone want to post a review? Otherwise it will probably not mean a lot to anyone who isn't personally starting to identify with Grandfather...
Thanks everyone - hopefully the next two issues will be posted in Feb.
