Signal Gk - the Fanzine re-issue

Signal GK number 5 is here:
http://www.scottmartin.ca/Traveller_FTP/SGK_5.pdf

Courtesy of Leighton, who had done a butt-load of work over the past couple of years. Issue #6 is in the works, so I hope to let folks know that it's available in the near future.

All of them (as well as the accreditation) can be found on the "Signal GK" page at scottmartin.ca, which can be found in "other peoples stuff" off my main page, or directly here:

Issue 5

I agree totally with Scott on this, Leighton has put in a massive amount of work getting this issue ready and really deserves a great deal of thanks for all his efforts. There is no comparison between the scans and these which Leighton has completely re-editted.

This is one of my favourite issues as it highlights Duncan Law-Green's S'mrii.

Direct link to the (complete, ~14 MB) Signal GK 9 is here:
http://www.scottmartin.ca/Traveller_FTP/Signal_GK/SGK_9.pdf

It isn't (yet) available on the Signal GK page, but I will update as soon as I can to rectify this, probably before Friday.
<edit>
Signal GK page now links correctly:

Note that as with the other pieces of Signal GK, this includes the subsector atlas.

A consolidated Signal GK library data (and Atlas) are currently being contemplated: how much interest is there (and what help would be available) if the Signal GK Crew (largely Jae and Leighton with a bit of help from minions like me) decided to pursue this project?

Certainly, I would want to see it done through Mongoose as a way of reaching a larger audience, cleaning up some of the art (eg getting some of Mongoose artists on board). As a free or nominally free product...free is always good. As an independent venture...not even affliated with any Traveller line - less likely.

I was a big fan of S-GK back in the day, as you might tell. I really thought the magazine had greater potential than what it reached as a mere fanzine and hoped it would make the leap like Jumpspace into a professional format but realizing that everyone had to keep a day job...I know the reasons why it did not.

Great stuff once again...looking forward to new contributions (as per the idea floating out there...) One of the things that I also liked about S-GK was that it took gamers to be mature full-fledged human beings. Too many gaming magazines and supplements get to be too prissy for my liking. S-GK broke new ground and continued to plant a forest. Hope whatever comes next will continue this dark and mature trend that they set out and that Traveller has largely ignored.

Signal-GK 7 now available for download

thanks to Richard's efforts, issue 7 is now available for download.

http://www.dot-communications.org.uk/modx/index.php?id=234

we've also included the remaining library data files from both 6 and 7. Leighton is I believe still working on a full PDF version of issue 6 (the only one of the 13 issues still to be released).

This was one of my personal favourite issues.

Richard has sent a copy to Scott so hopefully it will be available from his site soon as well.

Connection Problems

Greetings !

Has anybody tried recently to connect to the Signal GK website? I have tried twice and my browser Internet Explorer can't connect. Has the website been taken down?
That is all.

Man what a find.
In preping for a new game of Trav that I have not touched in years, I fondly remembered those mags from England that I paid to have sent to me.
I found then again and was looking through them and found some were missing. Considering I have a few boxes from the shed they may yet still turn up.
But I; 3, 4, 5 and 6. including the extra stuff they used to put in.
I am pretty sure 1 and 2 are together somewhere. But now I have the pdf's thats great.
I just remembered I was even in the Transponder Alerts in issue 6.
I wonder what happended to those other HIWG's, David Schneider was another member as Australia had its on frontier area to design. I remember getting him into a game or two.

Thread revival, because I need to contact the principals involved...

#1: There's no copyright or publication dates in any of the Signal GK fanzines.

#2: Issue six is still missing... (that's just a hint).

#3: Apparently, the Imperium Games versions of "Long Way Home" and "Gateway" effectively makes some of this fanzine semi-canonical for the OTU. At least the Scandians are in...

Thread revival again...

Wondering if anyone can help with publication dates for the issues, and wondering Issue #6 was ever found.

Six was scanned. I know because I did some of the scanning.

Can't help with the publication dates though.

Were they shipped in envelopes, or simply franked/stamped on the cover - if franked or stamped, check the postmark.

I hesitate to mention it but there is a full set available on eBay right now.

The reason I hesitate is that the seller has *many* fanzines available and they all happen to be the sort that were published via photocopier (no glossy covers), onto colored paper stock at best. I picked up "Privateer" from the seller and it looks as though it were freshly printed. So... without any firm evidence, I'm a bit skeptical that things are on the up-and-up.

I Agree, I helped with the re-issue scanning, and I received an original issue that was 8 x 11.5 not digest sized. We're there digest sized American issues?

Signal GK #6

Is there any chance that this might be available for a read-through and possible inclusion to the Wiki?

Does anyone have a PDF of this to share?
