A couple of other interesting weapon concepts, the first being a metal storm mortar system and the second, well it just looks mean.

Metal Storm Mortar

Note the simplicity of changing a 4 round barrel/magazine, a trained gunner could probably do a dozen in under 20 seconds.

High Impulse Weapon System

Can't really see a use for this unless they've got something really special in the projectile.

Low velocity HESH (High Explosive Squash Head) A/K/A HEP Round...?
One Nasty Metalstorm-type device was considered as part of the U.K Ministry of Defence's Minicas proposal, in the mid to late 80's...
The Minicas concept was basically for a very small, cheap ground attack aircraft, to act as a "Assault breaker", for when the Warsaw Pact crossed the Fulda Gap.
A later proposal by BAE, to meet the Minicas proposal, would have the aircraft carry a removeable dorsal mounted pod, with 32 mortar tubes inside the pod, carrying modified, rocket assisted 81mm mortar bombs.
In addition, said rounds would carry a millimetre wave (MMW) active radar sensor, thus giving the round a guidance system...
