the 1930's

Hi,

After reading a recent post here, I went ahead and checked out the Verne steampunk type setting system on Drivethrurpg.com. Along the way I also stumbled across another product called "Airship Troopers - The Zeppelin Age". It seems to be kind of a Pulp Adventure setting in the early part of the 20th century, along the lines of old movie serials, etc.

Looking it over kind of got me thinking though about the early part of the 20th century in general and the decade of the 1930s in particular. Seeing how the 1930s started with a global depression, fear of the Red mance, and cloth covered biplanes, etc and saw the rise of Facist movements, all metal sleek fighters with retractable undercarriage, new/modern high-tech passenger liners, experimentation with nuclear physics and jet power, the invention of radar, and other high-tech equipment.

It seems like it would be a really good setting for adventure whether pulp-action like or not.

Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone here has ever experimented adventure during such a setting/time period?

Regards

PF

GDW came out with a Cadillacs and Dinosaurs version of T2K which might be a source of pulpy fun. There's also Twlight Nightmares that may have something.

Obviously when I think of pulp today I think of Indy Jones, "The Rocketeer", "The Mummy", and "The Phantom". Rocketeer is an all time favorite movie. Zepplins, Nazi's, Jetpacks, and Howard Hughes. What more could you want.

Spirit of the Century is actually set in the 1920's for that very reason. I've played (not run) SOTC. (I'm actually curious to get ahold of the Spirit of the Far Future conversion docs, now.)

Currently playing in a very Pulpish Call of Cthulhu (BRP) game that involves the mysterious sorcerer Kraken who has thus far enlisted the aid of the evil Yellow Peril (ironic as 3 of the 5 players, including the Keeper are of Asian decent) and naturally Nazis and their partially magically powered single winged flying fortress. We have come across ghouls on an island in the Pacific traveled to Northern China and now the journey continues at the speed of plot.
