My take is that there is no single Type T despite the fact that some of the canonical text speaks of the Type T. Any ship class that conform to the Type T specifications is a Type T. So you can have two type T designs that are a little different and others that are a lot different, as long as they're all same tonnage, same category of streamlining, same number of hardpoints, same size drives and power plant, etc.. I would also say that things that could be changed without a major refit (like number of cabins) can differ from a standard type description and still be that type.
those fins could be strong enough to be fairings for landing struts (with folded-up wheels or pads that pop-out just before landing). Then just a nose-gear is needed....
