Using only Book 2 Starships -- Effect on Imperium

The only problem I have with Supp 4 is that it brings in skills that would need to be in the 6 Book 1 careers. Wet-navy Sailors can earn Gravitics and Battledress; Space Navy and Marines can't.

Admittedly, it's easy to rewrite the Book 1 skill tables.

Although it's just as valid to rewrite the Supp 4 tables. That might even be a better idea if you don't think Gravitics, Battledress or Zero-G Combat are all that necessary.

Re-write six careers to add a few things, including a more vigorous use of skill cascades, or rewrite twelve to remove those same things. Note that skills are already being worked over by the inclusion of Book 4 even if those careers aren't in use.

Easily solved - use the MT CharGen tables and skill list.
Total skill levels earned are proportionately increased at the same magnitude as the length of the skill list.

Which sort of goes against the premise of 444 or prototraveller ;)

The MT skill list is too bloated IMHO - the cascade idea is worth keeping though.

I'm not convinced that some of the skills added in LBB4-8 and then MT were actually worth the effort putting them in the game.

Bull.

It actually has about the same total number of skills to the T444 - because it reduces the weapons list from 3 dozen of CT (one per weapon type) to about 11. (Large Blade, Small Bade, Polearm, Bow, Pistol, Rifle, FA Gunnery, Laser Weapons, Neural Weapons, High Energy Weapons).

Some of the skills introduced in the Gamelords' environment supplements (mountain climbing, diving, desert survival) would have been nice to incorporate into charged too. Was survival skill added in book 4, book 6, or MT? The environment specialisms aren't covered by any other skills, are they?
