Vehicle design-toolkits

I was looking through the vehicle design system, attempting to make a spreadsheet to help with the task. In the section on toolkits, it says that the vl taken up by a toolkit is equal to its weight in the equipment list. In the example, it describes a mechanic's toolkit. In the equipment list, it weighs 20kg. In the example on toolkits, the toolkit takes up 2vl. Is the weight wrong in the equipment list, or is the example wrong in assigning it only 2vl? There's nothing in the latest errata about this.

Hello AaronKohura,

I believe that you are talking about Chapter 11 Technology and Equipment and not Chapter 12 Design Sequences. Could you please cite the page or pages you are referring to? This would help me take a swing at an answer.

Reference #1: Toolkits on a vehicle page 244, 1st column. The text here states that a toolkit that is added as a maneuverable appendage to a vehicle will take up a volume equal to the weight of the toolkit.
Reference #2: SAme page, example listed under toolkits shows a mechanical toolkit with a volume of 2 vl.
Reference #3: Equipment list, page 211. Mechanical tool set weight is listed as 20 kg.

Afternoon AaronKohura,

Man, I really need to get some new glasses, I didn't see that entry even though I read the page 3 times.

I agree that the example is an errata since the conversion rules state "...and the volume required will be equal to the weight of the toolkit."

Good catch.

Follow the text, not the example. The Toolkit should be 20vl, Cr2000, and require 0.2EP per round.

Lo Hunter,

</font>[/QUOTE]Good idea! In fact I'd probably like to give it a test drive! I wimped out of doing a vehicle design spreadsheet, the T20 starship design one was hard enough!

So how do I get a copy of it to you? Once it's finished, that is. Hopefully, unless unexpected bugs creep in, within a week.

Hello Falkayn.
Why would people be sending you cans of processed ham, i can't see a problem if you like ham.
The map thing, remember way back when i sent you the four maps for the Gateway Quadrent and you asked the powers that be if you could put them on your site. ??????
I couldn't find them on your site so i have assumed that Hunter said no but it dosn't hurt to ask just in case, what with the UWP's being sent to a few people to format.
BYE.
And yet another entry in the SOC race.
