Best Science Fiction Theme?

Which science fiction show, whether movie or TV series, has the best main theme?

Star Wars, of course, comes to mind. That's an amazing main theme.

I think Goldsmith's theme for Star Trek The Motion Picture is, likewise, amazing.

Star Trek has has some other very good themes--the title themes to Deep Space Nine and Voyager are exceptional. And, I love what Horner did with Star Trek II and III. Star Trek VI - The Undiscovered Country has a neat, dark, brooding theme. And Star Trek IV - The Voyage Home has an interesting theme, though not of the quality of these others I'm mentioning.

Of all the great sci-fi themes that exist, if I had to pick one as my favorite, I'd have to go with the main title them of the original Battlestar Galactica.

I just love that piece. Bold. Majestic. A suitable theme for a group of warriors battleing the odds against survival.

How about you.

Which sci-fi theme is your favorite?

I'd have to go with the old BSG theme as well. It was an amazing piece of music. And I am really happy that they used it as the "Colonial Anthem" in the New BSG - a role for which it is very well suited.

The title theme from Space Rangers (the game, not the show).

EDIT: Okay, I missed the point that it had to be a film or show, but video game music is almost always superior to that.

My favorites, in order
oBSG
Star Wars
the Christopher Reeves Superman movie
ST:DS9
ST:TOS
Buck Rogers (pilot version)
ST:TNG

The opening theme for the Original Star Trek series is still my all time favorite, and I can remember it from when the show was on the first time. After that, the opening theme to Deep Space Nine, and the Stars War Theme by Meco.

There is also the music to the movie, Forbidden Planet. Just determined that is available from the iTunes store.

The Lost in Space themes were both very good, including the version used in the movie.

Cowboy Beebop

Any of the Irwin Allen productions had good music. Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Time Tunnel, Land of the Giants.

I would agree with the Lost in Space themes, and the Irwin Allen music. I sure wish the Time Tunnel had had a longer run. My brothers and I really liked that show.

There are so many ... Star Wars, BSG (original and new), Star Trek DS9, Star Trek Voyager, Star Trek First Contact, Stargate Atlantis, Game of Thrones, Babylon 5 (season 3 and 4), Space 1999 (season 1), Buffy The Vampire Slayer (TV), Angel, X-Files, The Invaders, 2001, Farscape ...

But no list would be complete without the iconic Dr Who theme (in all it's variations).
