CT star base generator is ready! 1.0a

Questions . . .

1. Is this a military, S.A., or local station?
2. Cna the small Craft bays hold a 100 ton S class? ;)
3. What is the total maximum population (for easy ref.)
4. Is there industry here?

Maneuver Drive “W”
Power Plant W
5. How did you arrive at those figures and does the space station move?
6. You have backup power how about backup computer for the second bridge?
7. Total dtonnage

I would change your formatting a bit:

Commercial Facilities and capabilities

Residential Facilities

Defense/Security

You could call it

Orbital Cargo and Passenger Transfer Station-1
or “O-tran”to the workers.

Looks like a winner.

cool feedback thanks!

1.
this is a generic commmerical base for a planet
i do have a naval and scout version coming
so you can make whatever applys to your TU...

2.
small craft bays are for pinances, cutters
lifeboats, ship boats, shuttles, fuel shuttles
fighters...so MAX size would be 95 tons

3.
right now i have a MAX pop of 6 billion
or 6000 millions...

4.
industry do you mean a space factorie?
hmmm had'nt thought about that i do i
have shipyard ability for A,B,C types
does that count? give me more ideas about
that...if you could..

5.
manuver and power i generate randomly
and based on starbase TYPE (ABCDEX)
manuver would only be used to keep
the station at a stable altitude from
the planet...even if its a a lagrange point
i thought it best to have a manuver idea
anyways...also manuver would be incorporated
into spin if nessesary on ring and cylinder
type bases?...

6. computer backup....OOPS!
will do

7.
dtonnage = volmas....somewhat incorrect
but i could'nt think of a good noun to
include base tons and berth tons...as i thgt
1 number would be a better description for
the base then 2...bad idea? good idea?
other idea?

your right...
comm. facility
residential facility
defense/security facility
sound better...

so far i have highport and otran for a program
name THANKS...any more anyone?

I though you meant a station name!!!!

How about

Starport Authority Design and Architecture Program
“SAD-AP”

Automated Space Station Engineering System
"ASSES"
file_21.gif

What about a space station located around an uninhabitable world like a gas giant or black hole?

What I mean is should the station be given the trade classification of “In” for industrial. I figure that by keeping the traditional trade classifications (limited as they may be) it make s it a bit more consistent. Non-Industrial stations will have to import more manufactured goods and would effect the local price. Likewise if robject’s arcology could produce enough excess food I would classify it as “Ag”. It is an arbitrary designation but It should probably be a certain percentage of the hull dedicated to manufacturing or agriculture that could produce or exceed the local population’s need for a given type of goods.
A notes field could let the designer specify the type or limitations of the industry or trade.

As for shipyards a simple yes/no would do.
Small Craft y/n
Starships y/n

If the station is a highport that would effect its use. Again yes/no would be enough to tell players and ref’ that it is part of a system.

If you really want to get nutz you could have the computer average (correct term?) the space per-person. TL, food, trade volume and other factors to have an accommodations rating of A-E as a general expression of what living conditions are like. Or just a little radio button the user can select. I understand FF&S has some good insight on long term life support and stuff like that.

“Monthly Credit Revenue: Cr X/Y”
“Current Debt: Cr”

I like the revenue stat but how much does it run in the red/black? If I were a bank would I want a branch here?

Most Traveller fans will assume “hydrogen displacement tons” for tons or the GURPS dtons.

Perhaps some of our resident artist might be willing to submit archetype sketches of some of the base configurations? You know, something small like a “green screen” wire-frame image.

hehehe i like "ASSES" thats funny i'll add them to
the poll so folks can vote on it...

i thought about 0 populations but abit of
the generation system runs off population
so i suggest that one just enters in a (1)
if the population is 1 million or less....
then you could consider that the "level"
of vistors & personell changes that occur
throught the year for "official" starbase
functions or events...

and i would suggest E or X types as your selection ...

correct i have not done the cost yet for
the station or the "maintenance" cost either
i'll probably do that after i finish the
naval section and the scout section...

just so i have the right numbers is this everything for maintenance per CT book 1-2-3?

fuel(monthly)(i've modified LBB 2 rules)
staterooms(life support) every 2 weeks
1/1000th every 2 weeks for maintenance

salary i'm not sure as the GM would
control the makeup of some of the crew totals
could i just avereage the standard salary's
as make that a MINIMUM cost or leave it off?

it doesnt really go into any other
specific costs beyond that so there
really arent any numbers to go off of
correct?

industry...

i'm wondering though if this is better
covered under planet generation rather
the starbase generation?

if i do it:
--------------
i can add it in pertty quick
to cover industrial, non-industrial
and agricultural...by user input...

what percentage of the hull size are we looking at? 1-5%, higher?
would it apply more to ABC types or ALL types?...

Of course it’s your project but I am imagine those asteroid belt systems. The base might be an important place for the raw materials to be refined before shipment. The navy might want an independent orbital parts supply base.

Yeah, a minimum hull size like 1 million dtons to even have the option and then make it a minimum percentage.

okay i'll reserve this option to another time

after the program is mostly finished, 1m dtons
is beyond the scope of what i have now in a small
ship universe for CT book 1 2 3...

IE....a 5000t vessel is considered the biggest
generally...so stations are in the range of 50k
-60k TOPS right now...

it might be best addressed by imagination on the use
of the commercial facilities or partial use of
the facilites for IN, NON-IN or AG....
