Personally, I quite like the look of the PLR. Very Sci-Fi! Not sure how good a pistol it would be though. It looks like it would be rather heavy, even with all the plastic, and if it isn't, the recoil from firing .223 one handed will be noticeable. Looks to me like a cute way of getting round any state legislation with regards to short carbines. You just have to look at it decked out with the accessories to see what its most likely intended to look like.

Getting back on topic, how big would an RTG have to be to provide sufficient power to power up a Gauss rifle (or in this case survival Gauss) within 24 hours? Assuming TL 13 - 14? I like the idea, but how long would it be good for?
 
The mass of lead shielding and thermal insulation might make a PLR somewhat more cumbersome. Better a cold fusion powerpack of some sort.
