BTL: There are products that you opted not to take that culd fulfill your subscription, yes? If so, then the fault is on you.
That is an utterly irresponsible and completely ignorant statement.
People buy a subscription based on what was offered to them initially. Companies do not get to change what was offered halfway through without some kind of legal notice (while we are here, can you please point me to the legal notice that says that QLI reserve the right to change what they offer on their subscriptions on a whim?), and they certainly do not get to keep peoples' money if they do decide to change what was offered and those subscribers choose not to take those items.
If I subscribe to a journal and am then told halfway that the journal will be stopped and I will have to take the rest of my subscription for a different journal instead, then I am fully entitled to demand my money for the rest of the subscription back, and I have no obligation to take the other journal at all.
Subscriptions are not "gambles" either. They are payment for specific services or items. If those specific services or items are not received or delivered, then as far as I can see the provider is in breach of contract.
