Though from Mike’s quote it seems it was after the Civil War that the Solomano fell out of favour.

So canon say that the Solomano Party became the primary political power in the Confederation on signing the Charter of Confederation in 871. Is there a reference to a link between the disaffected Sylean Solomani in 679 and the establishment of the Confederation with the Charter in 871?

They couldn't adapt, or didn't want to, to the changing socio political, and maybe even economic, environment, considering the emphasis on the alignment with an industrial dynasty.
