What would you like to see changed about MGT?

The replicants and artificials are different though. Skinjobs are biological - they eat, bleed, love, etc. Artificials are not: they can eat, but they are mechanical, with white milky 'blood'.

Perhaps bio replicants are outlawed, replaced by the less human artificials. Perhaps, with the death of Tyrol, his corporation loses political influence, especially as public opinion might very well turn against replicants, especially after all the Nexus-6 rebellions. This might allow Weyland-Yutani to gain influence, offering up their 'safer' and more manageable artificials to fullfill the mecha-slave role, eventually, after a 100-150 years or so, becoming virtually indistinguishable from government.

200 years later, the Company seems to have lost power, and a new United Systems govt with a strong military: in fact, it could be a military dictatorship. At this point, the artificials seem to have been outlawed too.

I'd like to see Mongoose Matt's idea of fair use change.:(
:nonono:

I've never been accused of being wildly optimistic. With that in mind, I'd like to say that I think that the revised Mongoose Fair Use Policy will be as accommodating as we can reasonably expect (and I wouldn't be shocked if it were more so).

Whatever my opinions on MGT and its supplements, I applaud Mongoose for a very player-friendly attitude. It's clear to me that Matt is one of us, and intends to do right by the players. I thought that the previous Fair Use Policy/OGL/Logo License were actually pretty reasonable and it seems clear to me that there were some unanticipated overlap issues.

Mongoose has generally acted in good faith in my experience on consumer-related issues, so I'm very optimistic. No one can accuse me of being a Mongoose fanboy, so hopefully my optimism will cheer others up.

What he said.

I intend to make my own thing with it and ignore or change whatever I disagree with. This will be very easy since I will not publish my own campaign.

I can....I'd be wrong, but I could....unless...perhaps you are a Mongoose MOLE...having established your creds as ....well, not a fanboy....now....you uncloak, and start supporting them...yeah ! Thats the ticket ! VERY tricky, Matt; very tricky indeed. Heck, tbeard probably never existed - all those years of publishing TFT variants and mini rules -all a ruse and part of your master evil plan.....

Awesome one captainthreadjack!

But seriously.

Could Mongoose maybe print something with a little color? Maybe a splash of red at least. Or how about better art? Before someone says - I bet you couldn't do better or something along those lines, I drew this for a girlfriend of mine a few years ago.

Mom was an art teacher at one point. I could draw better than some of the art in MGT when I was a freshman in high school.

Here's hoping T5 will be better than this. Maybe they could get some of that great art that was in T20.

Kneel before Zod!

I'd like to see a way to determine POP from the SIZ, ATM, and HYD scores. Something like:

Roll (2D6-2)

DM -1 if: SIZ = 4 to 6, or A; ATM = 2 to 4, or 8 to A; or HYD = 3 to 5, or 9 to A.
DM -2 if: SIZ = 1 to 3; ATM = 0, 1, or B to D; or HYD = 0 to 2.
DM -3 if: SIZ = 0; or ATM = E or F.

The closer a world is to Earth-normal, the more suitable and attractive it is for Solomani types.

Is determining the Tech Level any less complicated?

I'd like to easily find the statement that(iirc in the LBBs used to say) says that the line drawn between systems on starcharts entitles a ship with Jump-1 to pass all the way between those two points.

I must be blind, but I canna find it.

Also, with all due respect to Mongoose for putting this out in such a fine fashion, the art over the char-gen charts respectively...well, me and mine don't like it much.

There's no mention at all of the lines in my LBB3 from '77. They're X-boat routes in OTU charts. Maybe you're thinking of warplines from Warp War? That's where I got a similar mechanic in my old campaign.

Same here about the population levels, the "Hard science" optional rules really help with the starport quality side of that.

(And while I'm on it, does the "temperature" of the world really have to be on the side bar with unrelated generation mechanics? Can't the distance of the world from its host star be random as well, rather than arbitrary? And also why does the temperature of the world, despite being a side bar item, become part of the normal mechanics of hydrology generation later?)

Regardless I'm divided about the tech level generation. It's just complex enough.
Though the social commentary grabs me more. On one hand the near fascist reasoning that on worlds where people don't struggle to survive tech stagnates sounds right.

But on the other I'd like to believe that on a world where the air is breathable, that people still make computers, etc.

as I never played WarpWar I doubt it. Funny thing, I recall having a small-format book or a photocopy of same to wave at my players whenever they hooted that a Jump1 ship was essentially stranded in much of space. Mayhaps it was from one of my copies of the JotTAS?

The reasoning IIRC was that xboat routes were sufficiently mapped/patrolled that a Jump1 ship could set a course all the way to a destination system without having to do 1-parsec hops in order to make sure things were going as they should.

That sounds like a conflation of the rules for generating trade routes from the 1st printing of LBB3 with the rules for jumping in the Fifth Frontier War box game.

In the first case you had the LBB rules chart for making trade routes from starport type to starport type up to 4 parsecs distant (iirc that was the limit).

In the second case the rules (again iirc) in FFW were if you followed the jump routes you made the trip in one jump regardless of performance. If you went off the routes you were more restricted in how fast you could travel.

Hope that helps :)
