Will you buy NEW Traveller?

I will continue to buy supplements and adventures that are compatible with CT - that means they could be written for CT, MT, T4, and perhaps T5 and MgT.

Minimal conversion effort is important to me. If it slots into CT readily, I'll have a look.

This is also important to me. Though it isn't CT/MT, I'm hoping several pieces of T5 will nevertheless be compatible with it. I saw Mongoose's starship design looks like Book 2 -- has anyone compared starship designs between the two?

I chose CT because it's what I play. At this point I feel disinclined to buy MGT just because I've got everything I need to play and I don't see myself converting to yet another system. After purchasing CT, MT and then TNE, and a smattering of GT products, I don't see the point in investing in yet more Traveller products unless it supports my style of play.

Mongoose, baby.

Mongoose Traveller looks like the ticket for me. An updated CT. Yeah. That'll do. I really don't see the need for a variety of versions. This one has me pretty excited.

I was excited about the Mongoose version before I made the mistake of going onto the Mongoose forums. Now I have lost my excitment and am to the point where I do not care either way anymore.

But I still love CT so I am OK.

For me the key question would be the publisher as Im sure I could easily convert any decent product to one of the other traveller rulesets.

Having been stung by 2320 and to a lesser extent the other recent pdf products, I'd have to think real hard about value for money, knowing I'm going to get a slipshod product from Comstar & QLI that isnt even going to be fixed up despite how easily they can fix the pdf's

Probably explains why none of my generous gaming spending has gone on the new settings they put out (1248 ? Keepers of the flame ?) or the accessories like classic ships and TA.

I'm a sucker for most Traveller material... *sigh* definitely for CT, MT (which I still use), T5, highly probable for MGT, T20. T4, well I have a shelf full of it now and I burned out on collecting it... God forbid they pick up where they left off. TNE I never cared for (as a system). I have some GURPS Traveller (a half a dozen books) but wouldn't bother with most releases... not familiar with T Hero, and way too many other things to collect, so probably a no. A lot of the CT, and presumably T5 / MGT material, is readily adaptable to my game. At least that's what I tell myself when I shell out my hard earned credits. Besides, it makes good reading...

I really don't know about T5. T4 was BAD...really bad. I think I will wait and watch the net for a few months first.

MGT I may bite on, but I may watch here first for a week or two. I have some concerns--but it doesn't look T4 bad.

BITS have published a good deal of material for Traveller which can be used with any of the rules sets listed here and I know we are planning more. However, this poll (being system dependent) doesn't really cover our material at all.

I am waiting until I can afford to pick up the T5 CD. Being unemployed sucks!

In the meantime, I am using my T5 character creation and Task Resolution rules along with my MT stuff.

I will be investing in T5 when I get the chance.....

When I was looking for information on a SciFi roleplaying computer game, I ran across info about a new version of Traveller. Initialy, I thought T5 and Mongoose were the same thing just that mongoose was the publisher and T5 was the new name for the release.

I have MGT on order because it seams closest to CT which is what I once played a long time ago. Part of the reason I went with MGT instead of CT is because I thought more people would be playing it since it might also draw a few people from the other systems (Gurps, T20) since it was new and out first. I thought it would be mostly the T4 folks who would wait for T5.

(btw, I also bought the Firefly/Serenity RPG - I loved that show!)
