• Welcome to the new COTI server. We've moved the Citizens to a new server. Please let us know in the COTI Website issue forum if you find any problems.
  • We, the systems administration staff, apologize for this unexpected outage of the boards. We have resolved the root cause of the problem and there should be no further disruptions.

Exploration/Scout Equipment

Of course you would have to have a two touch system, such as finger on a tab, then a pull tab, just to make sure they don't activate accidently.
Of course, that still doesn't mean you can't have a few technically flawed versions out there...

"Recall Notice: All users of Chef Boeardii Self-Heating backpack survival rations (particularly the Tuna Casserole and Spam Patty flavors) should inspect their rations. If the rations have a production date before 125-1107, they should be discarded immediately, preferably in a fireproof container. The two-point heater activation system on this production run has been demonstrated as faulty, and a single organic contact to either point could cause the heater to activate. If the rations are not yet opened, this could have explosive results. Also, if the ration tins are stored with flammable material, a fire could result, even if an explosion does not result. Please contact Chef Boeardii on Regina about replacement credit.

Chef Boeardii will not honor any claims beyond replacement of noted rations. Fire claims are not a result of this problem, but of improper storage. Survival rations should be stored in a non-flammable container, ventable to vacuum or subject to a fire containment system."

I'm suprised no one's mentioned this, although it was alluded to via the solar tarp.

A small generator, and I mean REALLY small. It should crack water and also utilise sunshine. In fact, any form of power generation (wind, wave, whatever) should have a plug in. I've been a remote area surveyor for way too long and they day of the axe and the steam-powered theodolite are gone. We lug in the truck twenty camcorder batteries and a truck battery and it all gets charged every night. The radios need AAs and the vision gear chews through them as well.
