Favorite Bars & other estabhisments in YTU

I was thinking what a robot bartender might look like, stumbled on this awesome picture. Didn't want to post it because I am not sure about copyright stuff. although it seems you can download a hi-rez picture.

Robot Bar Tender

I had forgotten about deviantart, lots of cool artwork. I also clicked on his brother's music link, fun to look at the picture and listen to the music.

Following is quote from PC Rashid in current campaign

The Blue Lagoon was a slightly run-down licensed restaurant that primarily catered to civilian office staff at the nearby industrial areas, power plant maintenance personnel and salvage workers. Prostitutes were rare but not unheard of, the regulars didn't conduct business inside as this was a family restaurant and when newcomers to the area did they were asked to leave. Sometimes, not so kindly.

Thanks for all these tidbits of information! The galaxy seems a bit more alive and with atmosphere. I found Brubek's, couldn't find the robot bartender, what page #? I did notice now that there are floor plans for Nevon's Quality restaurant and an automated cafeteria. These would be fun with snapshot. Maybe the players have to kidnap "Little Cleon" while he is out to dinner with his "mole." He has probably been stealing rare luxury items from Sharurshid warehouses and needs to be taught a lesson. Might have to take out a few body guards though (memo to self to contact Instellarms for a possible small mercenary squad). Interesting that Archduke Norris is a regular here.

I wonder if anyone has or tried to create a Michelin or Fodor's like guide to restaurants & entertainment around lets say the Spinward Marches? Like Bits 101 spaceships etc.

I'll have to dig through 76 Patrons and see if there aren't some bar or club owners in there.

Got a couple

"Startown Liberty" (commonly known as "the Liberty"), they show up on just about any world, and vary greatly depending on Law Level and the composition in the local area, most are honest reasonably priced joints and can range from diners where ships crews can get away from "Ships Food" throw to full blown dens of iniquity where you can get any legal intoxicant (and make contacts for the illegal ones to) or indulge any fetish (subject to law level, than that isn't always a factor) gambling is usually available if not up front then in a back room or adjoining joint. But most are old school Aussie style Pubs, with a couple of bars, a beer garden, a venue hall (Bands {Pub Rock}, DJ's or Comedians are on just about every night and most days), dining facilities, perhaps some Pokies (slot machines), privet rooms (good for meetings or privet parties), and many have short and medium term accommodation (room rates by the Hour, Day or Week).

"The Naked Toke", an other variable establishment, some are "Head Shops" others are the local equivalent to a Pot Cafe, but most are night clubs that cater to the Stoner and/or Gay (normally Gay) communities. all Dance Music, Light Shows and Alcho-Pops.

the "Yellow Flag", A bar at the end of the world kind of place, frequented by Vets, Mercs & "Freebooters", the bar it's self has Tank Armour (up to a TL a couple higher than the world's TL but never less than TL-8 or Warship Hull Plates) concealed within it. you will not find Wines or Alcho-Pops hear and be careful what kind on mixed drink you order, "Lite" beer runs just short of 5% and normal beer is around 7%, most sprits are served strait. almost all the patrons are armed with Side-arms and Short Blades. SMG's and Long-arms are band by the owner, but it's not unheard of for someone (normally the owners favourites) to smuggle in a compact SMG, sawed off Shotgun or cut down Carbine and/or some Gas or smoke grenades and very occasionally some lethal force grenades. Other bars that are the Yellow Flag just by other names include "Chang's" "The Cutlass" and "Mangxoic"

The "Countess <World Name>" Club, A network of Ladies only Clubs found on most worlds with a fair sized population, most are Compounds, but others are just shopping mall sized buildings. inside you will find no men and all kind of things that cater to the feminine wants and needs of the clubs members, (all hours) Nightclubs, Bars, Cafes, Boutiques, Salons, Restaurants, Health Spas, Hotels and so on. the Club and it's sub facilities do have dress codes and those who don't meet them will be directed to the conveniently situated Boutiques and Salons near the entrance, or if they have their luggage will be asked to use the side entrance that offers bathing and changing facilities. their is a 100cr cover charge for members (waved for Premium and Life Members) to enter the Club, sub-facilitates may have separate cover charges. Temporary memberships are 100cr for a day (on top of the cover charge) or week long Premium memberships for 1000cr (500cr to upgrade a normal yearly membership to Premium for a week). One Year (full) Memberships cost 10,000cr or 100,000 for a One Year Premium Membership, Life Membership costs 1Mcr, Premium and Life members are permitted Female Guests provided the normal Cover Charge is paid. the Club also runs exclusive Resorts & Cruises for it's members when the Worlds or Habitats environment allows, also the Club has it's own Space Liners for members who wish to travel off world or can arrange for the leasing of crewed Yachts to it's members. Full, Premium and Life Memberships are fully reciprocal to all clubs in the network.

"The Captains Lounge", a private club found in or near most class C or better Star Ports, open to Ships Masters, Serving and Honourable Discharged Imperial Service Ships Capitan (a copy Masters Papers or Service Record must included with the application), Meals and Privet Rooms are available. Though membership is open to any ships Capitan the overwhelming bulk of members are Merchant Service or Free Trader Captains. Membership per world ranges from a few credits to 20-30 per year, Sub-Sector wide membership costs 1000cr per year and Sector wide membership costs 10,000 per year, some clubs on or near boarders do have reciprocal arrangements with neighbouring Sectors and Sub-Sectors.

"The Ships Locker", a chain of Big Box stores with all your spacer needs and expedition equipment, not bound by the worlds TL, if it can be found in the local cluster, along this branch of the Main (normally Jump-6 limit) or within Jump-6 in Scatters (no Jump larger than Jump-3) the Ships Locker is likely to have it (subject to GM's approval), and due to having warehouses within the Extraterritoriality you can order objects not permitted by local Law Level from their In-store or On-line catalogue and have it delivered same day Duty-Free to your ship. though you do pay a premium for off world goods the Tax Free status normally cancels out shipping costs.

"Frenchies", Pure and simple a Strip Joint, all the Girls are Real Girls or have had their Plumbing fully retrofitted (so if you find out the shocking truth about your new true love well it's your fault), the lights are soft and low to make the girls appear less predatory and most of the scams are in play with the "Champaign Cocktails" you are buying for the girls are in fact just coloured lemonade, the tumblers of Ice Water are Spittoons so the girls don't get smashed if you buy them any real booze and can keep working their marks all night and so on. Most of the girls are also Prostitutes and will arrange "Dates" for after work, Frenchie is not their pimp and doesn't take a cut of that action, but if they want to leave work early or take an extend brake for a "Date" they pay him a penalty. If you cause enough trouble the bouncers will beat you unconscious and rob you before turning you over to the cops, but normally you will be thrown out before you can start making real trouble, apart from rolling serious troublemakers Theft (Cons are ok but not outright theft) is not tolerated by Frenchie (it's bad for business) and any girl that tries a bit of Gingery wile out on a "Date" will find herself with out a job at the club.

Ah! you are totally right! good eye!

Been going though 76 patrons

Patron 14 takes place at a hotel bar at Rennersdon starport on Pecknel

Patron 16 wants to make contact at a bar, Sternmetal agent.

Patron 22 involves a bar at Rennersdon starport also

Patron 50 involves bar hopping

Patron 54 involves a bar fight

The Bottom Half of Infinity Bar, Grill and Trading Post

A chain of nightclub/bar/restaurant on a number of worlds, usually in Startown.

We had a graph-paper floorplan of the place. It was HUGE.

The name came from David Gerrold's book, "The Trouble with Tribbles", and was apparently an early draft name of what became Space Station K-7.

Bopalooma *
A Bwap restaurant set in a bwap enclave within the starport.

Set on several floors, the food is cheap & excellant. The restarant itself is clean if basic.

What sets this apart is the fantastic rudeness of the waiting staff.

Patrons who enter at peak times will be met by a Bwap who yells at them "UPSTAIRS! SEATING UPSTAIRS!" this happens on every subsequent landing, until the exhausted diners are eventaully seated.

Further examples of customer relations are numerous & legendary.

Customer "what's in the forest vegetable soup"
Waiter "F***ing vegetable, what you think?"

Patrons being told to go forth and multiply after joining freinds who were already seated. Or being ordered upstairs halfway through their meal because "That table is reserved!"

Locals regard this as part of the charm and enjoy the discomfort of horrified tourists who innocently wander in.

*Heavily based (including the examples) on a real life Chinese restarant in Londons west end.
