Ideal Player ship

Our Timberwolf campagin started on a standard type S/C. After a period of a year & half of game time they managed an old Lord Sommerset Class SubLiner( which they outfitted for exploration.).Now they're lost & on the run from some very nasty aliens;bent on enslaving them or having them for lunch.
Are there any plans out for the Fiery Class ?Or does it use the same deckplan layout as the Gazelle Class?

I would love any and all information from this article. If you could also identify the issue number, that'd be great, too. If you'd like to reply offline, you can email me at pyrrhus@eskimo.com. Thanks!

The deckplans for this and several other designs can be found online. (You'll have to get the Campaign Cartographer viewer, but it's free).

Very similar. The plans for the Fiery appeared in DGPs MegaTraveller Journal #2.

Peter Vernon is working on a very nice set of Fiery plans. I know he posts here -- probably just hasn't seen your query yet.

I noticed but I have no way of posting. No web site. :(
If you want, e-mail it to me at nightwo1f@yahoo.com and I can put it up in the group site (it's in my profile).

</font>[/QUOTE]I did not mean for this to take so long  , Tanuki and I have been going over the Fiery plans and found some things that needed changing. If your offer is still open I think the plans will be done early next week. Also what format is best? JPG, GIF?

I think the Gif's are smaller, but either way works for me. Check my profile for the site address it'll be at. We've got plenty of room!

I downloaded the heavy scout, checked it out, and I'm liking it more and more for a PC ship. It's gonna be perfect for the campaign I'm planning. I especially like the range and the firepower.

My own personal 10kt strike cruier .. with a bumper sticker .. we don't take $%^# !

My second group of Gamers (the 96-99 bunch), were dicemeisters (years of AD &D I'm afraid had honed the rolers skills.) They mustered out with four ships between eight players: An S-class Scout, (the retired Scout married pair); the 400dtn patrol cruiser (the ex-Navy-man), a 400dtn Gazelle CE (drop tanks welded on); and an 800dtn Merc cruiser.
They had their own little squadron of fun--so they thought. Fees and repairs ate the Merc Cruiser out from under them before they began to turn a credit.
Had i access to some MT stuff that I do now, I suppose the 600 dtn Shamabalator CE from "Ship's pof the Black war" would've suited nicely as an alla round ship (size, troops, some cargo).

RabidVarger, I have finaly
sent you my Fiery plans.

I think the Far trader would be the ideal player ship.

hey its go some legs (j20 but not enough to get out of hand ( with colapse tanks in cargo they can make a j4 if needed)

Its got cargo

its roomy (for a small group)

Easily customzed

neat deckplan (when drawn to proper scale)

cool looking (garu class A2)

Corrected J2 not j20

Given most players takeoff straegy (shoot their way out of the startport and jump off at 10 Diameters while the patrol crusiers are closing in), making J20 as an average, given misjumps, shouldn't be a problem.

LOL -- did you play in one of my campaigns? I had a group of players actually try to do just that. They found the ship they wanted, just walked right in, then, guns blazing, tried to steal her.

They were quite proud when their computer-6 guy broke the anti-hijack software and managed to jump before the stations fighters got to them. But, misjumped and ended up in deep space.

That was a short run game. They were ticked that there was no way out...no fuel, only partial stores and they were in deep space....

The most fun PC ship my victims had was the Excelsior a converted TL10 Experimental very Light Carrier.( XCL)
Origional specs: 300 tons J2 M1 with 10*10t fighters in a carosel arround the hull - a design flaw meant that though all the craft could launch/recover at the same time, only the pilot whose fighter was at the bottom of the carosel could enter/exit - also that was the only fighter that could be worked upon by the crew.

Despite the large punch (10 fighters in a very cheap carrier - makes a good escort carrier) the carosel design proved too difficult.

converted to merchant and sold off - the players got it third hand from there. has 9*10 ton cargo bays, a 10 ton ships launch (5ton cargo bay), a fair few pilot's quarter staterooms and they often used portions of the jump fuel space as a smuggling hold. Used as a normal merchant the loading took forever and they would spend most of the jump week moving cargo arround so that they could unload it more easily - the carosel virtually never stopped.

On one occassion the "fighter launch" was accidentally triggered dropping their cargo whilst they were running away (Accell improved without the weight, they escaped - but unhappy and poor for a while).

They spent a long time filling one of the fighter bays with mines/ECM lures and deliberately dumped it when runnig away another time.

The entire time they had the Excelsior they were looking for fighters they could shoehorn into the bays so they could go a pirating - at the peak they one TL 10 fighter and two TL12. It made for good pirate bate until the word got arround.

The last they saw of it was when the ship was when it was stolen by a vargr to be used in a pirate raid.

They ended up with a type R instead, but it never grew the personality that the Excelsior had.

Since then We've been playing small ship traveller and Light Carriers are in common use by the imperium.
