Welcome to the new COTI server. We've moved the Citizens to a new server. Please let us know in the COTI Website issue forum if you find any problems.
We, the systems administration staff, apologize for this unexpected outage of the boards. We have resolved the root cause of the problem and there should be no further disruptions.
Have not been playing much in recent years but been using the T4 rules with some material from previous versions in the few occasions I did so.
The last time I ran a major campaign though was back in the T4 days when I had a Milleu 0 game going for a good while.
Seems to me that, like most other `pen and paper` RPG`s Traveller needs to somehow become a bit more high profile in order to attract new blood to the game.
While I`m rather a fan of `hard copy` myself I`ve been wondering recently if perhaps the publishers need to explore different ways of marketing the game.
These days it looks like the non-computer games that sell seem to be the `pre-painted collectable minatures with simple rules` type and the era of big rulebooks with large numbers of supplements has now gone.
I think T5 has a big problem with accessability, personally I`d like to get hold of it but it looks like the only way I could get the rulebook is to puchase it directly from Far Futures Enterprises in the USA but the cost plus postage is prohibitive.
Even just getting the CD`s is fairly expensive and gets worse if I take the import duty and the local postal services additional `service charge` into consideration.
Perhaps the way to go is to publish everything in downloadable form for a small fee so we can just have the rules and backgrounds stored in our laptops, tablets or kindle.
Having it more available in that form would make everything more transportable as well for games sessions and if some licensing could be arranged to produce a line of 3D printed minatures?

Actually, Pathfinder has the big core, good supplements (not too many), and awesome adventure support. There's good reason it's the #1 PnP RPG.
Likewise, FFG has multiple lines with every-other-month additions - 5 game lines in the 40K verse ensemble, and just starting a second game line in their Star Wars ensemble.
Wow, nice to know that I'm not the only guy who has done this. That was my Traveller gaming for about the last 15 years, just recently decided to do Mongoose for a change.
The last time I ran Traveller it was T5. Time before that, MGT. Before that? GURPS Traveller, as I recall.
On Saturday I'll be running a one-shot of Classic, with the notion of running it for real once my Fate Core "Two-Fisted Pilot Tales" game comes to a close.

Combining Cyberpunk 2020 and Traveller sounds intriguing. I never played Traveller as a youth (just getting into it now), but I played a bit of CP2020 and loved it. The LifePath character generation was interesting, similar to Traveller. But I would want to combine the generation processes rather than use just CP2020 I think.

That's exactly what I did, I actually used the normal expanded character generation to get a decent "service history" and then laid the normal CP2020 Lifepath directly on top of it.
It worked very well and created really richly detailed characters.
