All-Time Favorite rpg EVER PUBLISHED?

snip....

After that:
- AD&D: Say what you want about it, but it was still the entry to RPGs for anyone remotely close to my age. Modern RPGers will scoff at its bloody focus, but we had a blast.

- Paranoia: When you get tired of all the cooperation and just need to kill someone or something, it was time to pull out the three books ... (And while I will never play it, I still got Paranoia XP on a whim.)

re AD&D -----Yes, me too. It was FUN. I love the cartoony feel to it which was ruined in later editions IMO.

re Paranoia I have still never actually played paranoia but it makes fantastic reading. I bought XP too. The adventures are absolutely brilliant, some of the funniest writing I have read.

I have spent so much time over the last nearly 30 years fiddling with Traveller that it has to qualify as my favorite.

Goto to be Traveller (classic or mega) followed by Space 1889 and Oriental D&D mainly becuase the group I played Oriental D&D with could cope with being asked to do things like extemporise poety.

I also played some Twilight 2000 but mainly as a generic modern military RPG without WWIII.

Can't keep it to just one.

Last Unicorn Star Trek (Like Gurps, no calculator needed)
Star Wars d6
Traveller T4 (mostly for the chargen, bleh for eratta)
TSR's Alternity (This is what T5 should be, but won't.)
Traveller Classic (Clean, nice)
AD&D 2nd ed + Birthright
Megatraveller (too many missing parts in the rules, but Tasks smoke it up.)
ICE Spacemaster + all the trimmings (Great maps, great setting.)
Revised Conspiracy X 2.0
Cyberpunk 2.0.2.0
ICE Middle Earth Roleplaying (Oh heck yeah, best maps in the industry.)
ICE Rolemaster + all the trimmings
Twilight:2000 2nd edition
GURPS + (Too many setting books to name)
The new Star Wars Saga Edition (currently running this, the players refused d6, how silly of them.)
Palladium's reprint of Recon (The old RPG Inc version was mostly wargame)
Top Secret S.I.
FASA Trek (Some of the best flavor books in print)
SPI's Dragonquest
SPI's Universe
AD&D 1st ed (ran this for years, alternated with Traveller, till SW D6)
2300 AD
Tunnels & Trolls
Space Opera
FGU Aftermath!
D20 Modern
Spycraft
3rd ed / d20

For me it has to be
Traveller (every edition up to TNE) though I've swiped bits from other editions
then Empire of the Petal Throne (the original TSR edition) I have the latest incarnation but finding someone to play regularly is difficult.
Rolemaster (2nd Edition)
The Current World of Darkness from Whitewolf, a much more balanced system than it used to be.

Many other games over the years (many many years)
EPT and Traveller were the first games I played, way back in 1977. Traveller (the black boxed set) was the first RPG I actually bought.

Favorite games

Traveller - in order Classic, T20, TNE, ....
Twilight - referee, published...this game teaches teamwork and organization
Shadowrun - excellent but it took a long time to convince me
2300AD -- great fun, helped playtesting so much fun...
Top Secret - we characterized ourselves 10 years in the future... good fun
Star Wars - D6 WEG!
