T20 Starship Generator

True many people don't like gaming

Not all girlfriends care about sci-fi tabletop RPGs.

Most people don't have a clue. It's simply interactive, storytelling mixed with problem solving. Women love to communicate. I've seen a number of women try gaming, say "wow that was fun but it's not for me" and move on. But if they never know... also look at the large numbers of women in online gaming.

After moving to a new area I finally managed to hook up with two gaming groups at about the same time. One has 2 women (out of 5 players), the other has 2 women (out of 6 players) ... one of whom is the GM. And hopefully some time in the future, after the current campaigns have ended, we'll be playing that.

Wow, guess you have never encountered a female gamer then. Or girlfriends who are willing to watch the game and try it, even if it is just to see why their SOs enjoy it so much.

While I agree leaving distracting and disruptive people out game is great, but its just as often boyfriends as girlfriends.

Generally, based on the summer gaming class that I have been working with since 2003, in the 6th grade through 12th grade age bracket, the girl gamers clean the clock of the boy gamers about 90% of the time. Note this is not role-playing games, but board games such as Axis and Allies (with some modifications to the standard games), History of the World, War: Age of Imperialism (out of print by Eagle Games), the various Mayfair railway games, and similar type games.

In the games design class that I have taught, it has been about 2/3 boys and 1/3 girls, with the girls interestingly enough, focusing on the role playing games, while the boys go more for the war games.

Ruling out female gamers out of hand is extremely shortsighted in my view, as they do compose fractionally more than half the population.

Compared to the number of guys it's almost non-existent.

The data released by Blizzard about 5 years ago was that WoW was about 1/4 women.

Puzzle Pirates is almost even, based upon the toons. The crew I'm with has mostly female officers. (I got into PP while convalescing several years ago.)

The tournaments I saw on G4 (3-4 years ago) were typically between 1/10 and 1/3 women.

The numbers vary widely by game. The hardest-core console gamer I know is a woman.

Hi,

I picked up a copy of the Sci Fi 20 Design Manual, Combat Manual, and Player's Guides last year off DriveThryRPG.

Hi,

Unforutnately, I really only bought the books out of curiousity and to see if there were any good ideas in them that might be adaptable to other systems, as I never really got into most D20 systems. So, I probably am not really in a good position to try and answer your questions.

T20 to Scifi20

As I recall...hopefully well.

Hunter was converting T20 to Scifi20 after the Mongoose changes. I was under the impression this is a change in naming removing Traveller from the brand.

I have M20 and F20 but honestly never compared them with T20...which is probably not much help. :oo:
